Production Lead
RESPONSIBILITY LEVEL:
Under the supervision of the Area Supervisor/Manager, this position is a distinguished resource to provide direction regarding processes, procedures, and information within assigned area. Accountable for the team’s overall departmental safety, quality, productivity, performance, customer service, and process improvements. Works closely with other departments and management to ensure daily objectives are met with assigned team of associates.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
- Champion a Safety Culture using JCI tools and best practices and participation in JCI programs and committees empower employees to take responsibility for their own safety as well as the safety of others. Safety Awareness - Relevant knowledge to train new employees or existing employees on the proper processes/equipment in the department. Knowledge of JSA’s, PPE usage, 5S, and all safety regulations in the facility.
- Drive Improvements to Metrics. Monitors departmental activities and ensures requirements are met in regard to: Safety, Quality, On-Time Delivery, Customer Service, Production Cost, and Inventory Management. Monitors scrap rates, productivity, on-time delivery, and standard hours. Works with the Quality department to resolve Customer Complaints and any supplier issues.
- Works with other departments and management to determine daily work assignments to meet customer requirements. Adjusts priorities as needed to respond to customers’ needs in a timely manner. Assigns daily job task to team members and defines realistic daily objectives while being sensitive to time constraints and resource availability. Ability to manage bottlenecks in a process to improve workflow, reduce work-in-process, and manage capacity.
- Continuous Improvement. Ability to manage time and deliver results. Able to develop unique and novel solutions to problems; use intuition and a new way of thinking to create a positive approach with opportunities for enhancement. Ability to resolve production issues resulting in true root cause analysis. Firmness to drive changes in processes and to provide facts supporting procedural processes with engineering team understanding value-add versus non-value add activities and improve the ratio.
- A floor Champion who coaches and builds teamwork among peers. Ability to build high morale while delivering on team commitments to established goals and objectives. Displays professionalism in the workplace, able to perform duties during times of stress and pressure. Develops and maintains a team-oriented workgroup. Fosters a sense of pride, quality, and team synergy within the facility. Communicates goals to team members on the manufacturing floor. Provides positive reinforcement to outside departments ensuring cohesiveness toward facility objectives. Ability to escalate personnel issues, engaging Human Resources in a timely manner.
- Flexibility. Availability to work overtime and/or move between shifts for training and/or coverage purposes to support production as needed. Comfortable conducting meetings to team members with a sense of urgency to meet expectations.
- Demonstrated ability to use computer utilizing software such as Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and ERP systems. Relevant knowledge to look up production orders, key parts into inventory, and use the system as a tool to assist in production.
- Perform material handling, set-up, and other departmental serving duties as required.
- Perform other assignments as directed by management.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Requires a high school diploma/GED. Some training and/or supervisory experience desired.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

- Ability to work at heights, and in confined spaces
- Ability to properly lift/carry/push/pull/manipulate/transport up to 30 lbs.
- Ability to occasionally lift 50 lbs., and frequently lift up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment
- Ability to work in repetitive motions and pressure involving fingers, hands, and wrists
- The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing or walking over hard concrete surface
- Exposure to recurring bending, crouching, stooping, kneeling, sitting, climbing, stretching, or similar activities
- Ability to reach at high levels
- Ability to read, write, speak and communicate in the English Language
- Must have the physical strength and ability to frequently work more than 40 hours weekly.
