The Data Steward role will be responsible for assisting in the execution of the company’s comprehensive data strategy and fostering a data-driven culture across the organization. Strategic initiatives will be focused on driving departmental objectives, which include evaluating the company’s data visualization systems and assisting in implementing a data management strategy.
The Data Steward will lead efforts in establishing and executing data management disciplines, including data stewardship, metadata management, and data lineage. This position is responsible for managing, monitoring, and ensuring the integrity of data throughout the data lifecycle and collaborating with various teams to establish data standards, maintain data quality, and facilitate data accessibility while adhering to regulatory requirements. This role requires outstanding communications skills and the ability to establish good working relationships with individuals at all levels of the firm.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead efforts to capture and/or document data requirements within departments and projects.
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of Data Governance documents, specifically: Policies, Standards, and Procedures.
- Support metadata efforts to build a robust business glossary including data definitions, metadata components, data lineage, and changes to data usage.
- Develop and implement a mechanism to track and report on-going business data risk activities.
- Assist business partners to maintain and recommend enhancements to business data sets, data standards and procedures.
- Participate in project meetings acting as a data SME, providing guidance for data standards, data sourcing, and data usage.
- Coordinates with data-intensive projects to identify business data needs and analytics.
- Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of data by implementing and monitoring data quality standards and processes.
- Implement access controls and security measures to protect sensitive data from unauthorized access and breaches.
- Influences business partners towards alignment with Inland’s data vision and strategic data objectives, while building effective working relationships with leaders and business SME’s.
- Collaborates with technical partners to implement, support, and integrate data.
- Iterates solutions through an adaptive-agile cycle; works with team members to resolve any issues.
- Demonstrate the highest standards of personal and professional integrity, adhere to company’s policies and procedures, and comply with applicable laws, government rules and regulations.Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, computer science, information technology, data management, or a related field.
Experience and skills:
- 3+ years’ experience in data management, data governance, or a related role
- Proficiency in data management tools, databases, and SQL. Familiarity with data governance frameworks and data quality tools is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in managing data and documentation.
- Experience working with CRM project deliverables in the financial sector or similar heavily regulated industry (Asset Management or Banking being preferred)
- Technology experience working with data, data system, and collaborating with IT professionals
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of an organization
- Ability to translate user feedback into measurable action items
- Detail, process oriented and skilled at developing documentation or business processes
- Intermediate to advanced skills in SQL
- Knowledge of Salesforce and HubSpot, are a plus
