The buyer position will support the purchasing of goods and services for engineering, estimating and operation teams. This will include the purchase of, but not limited to fleet, tooling, mechanical commodities, wiring, lighting, switchgear and generators. Daily activities will include creating bid events, e-sourcing, maintaining bid documentation, administrative duties, creating purchase orders, obtaining supplier quotes and updating part & item databases. The buyer/planner will report directly to one of our Procurement Category Manager’s. This position is located in our corporate headquarters located in St. Petersburg, FL.
- Work with the procurement team, project management and suppliers to support material buyouts for various regions.
- Develop and maintain strong relationship with operations so bids and purchase orders are executed in a timely manner.
- Learn the procurement categories and provide guidance to all employees to adhere to our best practices and utilizing preferred suppliers.
- Review quotes for accuracy and work with suppliers to negotiate best pricing.
- Receive hands-on training from assigned mentor regarding procurement, category management and supplier negotiations.
- Support the bid process by creating e-sourcing events, updating bid templates and generating summary reports.
- Recommend best practices and processes for the department in order to improve efficiency.
- Compile, spend and bid data in excel and database tools for reporting.
- Continually help to improve and innovate on all processes, reporting, data collection or best practices.
- Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Supply Chain, Finance or a Technical field with 0-3 years’ experience.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills with willingness to negotiate with suppliers.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Outlook, and Intermediate to advanced skill level in Excel with data mining ability.
- Ability to multitask in a high volume, fast-paced work environment with firm deadlines.
- Working knowledge within the construction industry a plus.
