We are seeking experienced professionals to join our rapidly growing Global Banking Risk Consulting Practice, with a focus on Technology Risk Consulting and Database Management. As a Temporary Database Administrator, you will become part of a diverse, high-performing team of professionals dedicated to delivering exceptional service to top US and global banking institutions. Key Responsibilities:
Database Management & Optimization:
- Administer and maintain critical databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL).
- Ensure high performance, availability, and scalability of databases.
- Perform regular database tuning, optimization, and troubleshooting.
- Implement database partitioning, indexing, and query optimization strategies.
Security & Compliance:
- Ensure databases comply with regulatory standards (e.g., PCI DSS, GDPR, SOX).
- Implement data encryption, auditing, and access control measures.
- Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
- Perform database patching and upgrades to maintain security and compliance.
Backup, Recovery & Disaster Recovery:
- Develop and implement backup and disaster recovery strategies.
- Regularly test backup systems and recovery procedures.
- Monitor database backups and resolve any issues.
Database Design & Development Support:
- Collaborate with developers and business analysts to design and implement databases.
- Provide support for database-related development tasks.
- Monitor the integration of third-party applications with bank databases.
Monitoring & Reporting:
- Continuously monitor database health and performance.
- Generate reports on database performance, issues, and capacity planning.
- Respond to database-related incidents and performance alerts.
Troubleshooting & Incident Resolution:
- Provide troubleshooting support for database issues.
- Resolve database-related incidents within established SLAs.
- Maintain detailed documentation of database incidents and resolutions.
Capacity Planning & Scalability:
- Analyze database growth trends and recommend scaling solutions.
- Assist in planning and implementing database infrastructure upgrades.
Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business, MIS, computer science, accounting, or related discipline.
- Minimum of five years of professional experience in IT risk management, external/internal IT audit, IT security, or IT compliance in large global banking institutions. Prior public accounting or professional services firm experience is preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Database Administrator, preferably in the banking or financial sector.
- Hands-on experience with relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL) and familiarity with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).
- Experience with database performance tuning, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning.
- Strong knowledge of SQL and database scripting.
- Understanding of database security practices, compliance standards, and regulatory frameworks (e.g., PCI DSS, GDPR).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and cloud database solutions.
- Technical skills in advanced SQL query writing, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in database clustering, replication, and high-availability configurations.
- Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Redgate).
- Familiarity with automation and scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for database management tasks.
- Relevant professional certification (CPA, CISA, CISSP, CISM, CIPP).
- Ability to convey technical information across various levels of aptitude, including senior management, in both written and oral communications.
- Strong interpersonal, written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to travel to meet client needs and work collaboratively in-person or remotely.
- Demonstrated success in high-pressure scenarios.

At RSM, an employee’s pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
Compensation Range: $68 - $102 per hour
