Job Summary
The Rockport Clerical Operator Position will have the ability to safely and efficiently operate car dumpers, stack rakes, and other terminal equipment. Clean, maintain and repair equipment as assigned. Inspect and repair conveyor system. Perform other duties as assigned
Primary Activities and Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with all railroad rules and regulations for safety, operations and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA)
- Operate Car Dumpers and Stack Rakes
- Operate material handling equipment
- Clean, maintain, and repair equipment
- Replace and inspect conveyor systems
- Other duties as assigned by proper authority, including additional general duties to support Rockport operationsMiscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager
Pay Rate
Full Rate $38.16/hour
Training
You are expected to attend one week of paid training at the Atlanta Training Center (ATC) in Atlanta, GA. New hires must achieve a passing score from the instructor on all appropriate testing. Failure to do so will result in new hires being released from the program and their offer will be rescinded. On-the-job training begins immediately following the successful completion of training at the ATC.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- 18 years of age or older
- Valid Driver's License
- Welding experience
Preferred Qualifications
- One year experience operating heavy machinery
- Welding certifications
Physical Requirements
- Medium work, depending on location, lifting up to 50 pounds
- Operate mechanized warehouse equipment
- Demonstrate auditory and visual acuity/tracking/inspection
- Stoop/bend/kneel/crouch/crawl/balance/climb
- Climb fixed ladders to 2nd and 3rd level decks multiple times per hour in a typical shift
Basic Competencies
- Verbal comprehension (Understand oral and written communications)
