Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 3 years of experience designing and testing multiple subsystems and systems (e.g., software, robotics algorithms, electrical systems, mechanical systems, control systems).
- 3 years of experience with industrial electrical control system components and system design, and regional industrial and safety standards (e.g., ISO, NFPA, RIA, ANSI, ETC).
Preferred qualifications:
- 3 years of experience with the overall process for developing products, including experience identifing issues and considerations for delivering a product.
- Experience in software development (e.g., C++, C#, or Python) and experience with cloud-based software technologies (e.g., PubSub, IoT, Data Warehouses).
- Experience with standards-based practices in Safety and Electrical.
- Experience with industrial vision systems (e.g., Cognex, Keyence, or OpenCV).
- Experience using electronic and mechanical fabrication and test equipment.

The Data Center Automation Services (DAS) Engineering team is a rapid iteration group focused on defining and stewarding automation standards for Google, designing, building, and deploying the right amount of automation capability for our partner teams, and providing engineering experience and leadership when developing future roadmaps toward optimal use of automation throughout the manufacturing, supply chain, and data center facilities that support Google as it scales the fleet.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $102,000-$150,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Responsibilities
- Operate independently within a project, providing technical expertise on projects while being responsible for the implementation of control system solutions and their maintenance/improvement.
- Work with Mechanical Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Control Systems Engineers, and Software Engineers to define technical requirements and influence project direction.
- Plan strategic work for yourself and the broader team including direct work responsibilities for similar engineers and vendors/contractors.
- Be responsible for engineering/technical direction-setting for a project and the team as a technical leader for projects of large size, scope, and complexity.
