About the Opportunity
The role of the Cross-Section Reader involves overseeing the cross-section and solderability testing procedures for printed circuit boards. This includes performing key responsibilities such as executing cross-section operator functions, which encompass the preparation of cross-section coupons, conducting meticulous micro section analyses, and carrying out solderability testing. Crucially, the position is responsible for ensuring that all tasks are completed in strict adherence to Team Leader directives, Traveler information, and established Standard Operating Procedures.
What You'll Do:
- Utilizes a microscope to thoroughly evaluate cross-section mounts, ensuring alignment with customer or military specifications.
- Reviews Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and the Traveler to confirm compliance with specifications.
- Sets up materials and processes as per established guidelines, verifying the completion of prior processes and ensuring accurate quantities.
- Conducts a visual inspection of coupons, confirming proper serialization before extracting microsection samples.
- Cuts incoming test strips precisely based on Traveler specifications.
- Inserts positioning pins in coupons and carefully places microsections into molds.
- Operates the oven in accordance with SOP or Traveler instructions.
- Prepares acrylic and epoxy for use in the evaluation process.
- Performs grinding, polishing, and washing of microsections following SOP guidelines.
- Documents any non-conformance parts and submits them to Quality Control for preliminary review and disposition.
- Reviews the manufacturing logbook to verify the accurate recording of all processed jobs.
- Notifies the team leader promptly of any process or personnel issues that may arise during the evaluation process.
- Performs other duties as required, showcasing flexibility in contributing to various tasks as needed

- Ability to read and interpret documents such as travelers, standard operating procedure, instructions and safety rules in English to the degree necessary to perform the job

- Must be able to work overtime as required
- Must be able to work 2nd Shift (4:00pm to 12:30am)
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) (Preferred)
- 2 years of working experience with IPC specifications (Required)
Please note that in addition to frequent standing, walking, and prolonged sitting, the work environment requires lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying up to 20 pounds; as well as, frequent reaching, twisting, turning, and constant hand motion.
Schedule:
- 2nd Shift (4:00pm to 12:30am)
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
