ensuring our proposals are delivered on time and within budget by developing accurate and timely material cost estimates that meet government and corporate guidelines and Federal Acquisition Regulations.
THE WORK
As a Material Cost Estimator, you will be responsible for creating detailed material cost estimates using supplier quotes, price agreements, and historical data. You’ll collaborate with a team of estimators and work closely with Operations, Program Management, Engineering, Finance, and Sourcing to ensure estimates are completed with the highest level of accuracy and quality. You will also support negotiations with the U.S. Government and participate in customer audits as the subject matter expert for material estimates. Additionally, you’ll contribute to innovative process improvements and develop solutions to complex cost-estimating challenges.
WHO YOU ARE
You have a strong background in Material estimating, Finance or Supply Chain with experience or working knowledge of Department of Defense (DoD) contracting and a good understanding of bills of materials, material costing, and cost escalation. You excel in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and are adept at managing multiple deadlines. Your ability to communicate effectively with senior managers and across functional teams makes you a valuable contributor to any project.

• Candidate should have an understanding of bills of material structures and have knowledge of the proposal process.
• Strong Excel skills are a necessary strength as are analytical skills.
• Excellent business acumen and ability to make business based decisions.
• The successful candidate will be required to come into the office at times for collaboration days.
Desired Skills:
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Ability to work with all levels of management.
• SAP experience
• Sourcing, Finance or Operations knowledge/ background is desired
• Knowledge of RMS Estimating and Pricing policies as well as the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR)

Ability to Work Remotely: Full-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work remotely full time at a location other than a Lockheed Martin designated office/job site. Employees may travel to a Lockheed Martin office for periodic meetings.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California and New York is $67,000 - $126,100. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Washington or Washington DC is $58,200 - $111,600. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
