The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
Description
GRS North America Actuarial & Analytics is seeking a talented Actuary to join the Workers’ Compensation pricing team. As part of the Worker’s Compensation pricing team, you will provide pricing and planning support for Risk Management and Middle Markets. This position will be focused on providing high quality analyses and effectively communicating key outcomes to support profit, growth, and operational objectives to our underwriting partners. The successful candidate will possess strong analytical and communication skills, as well as a demonstrated ability to execute thoroughly in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities:
- Perform complex actuarial analyses to assist business decision making and strategy development, including the semi-annual profit reviews.
- Utilize profit reviews to set plan loss ratios in coordination with reserving.
- Work with underwriting actuarial support to provide account level support for Large Deductible and Excess WC pricing model and tool support, Cat/TRIA, profitability analyses, deep dives, etc.
- Maintain and improve the current reporting infrastructure, working with stakeholders in Finance, Underwriting, and Product to ensure all business needs are met.
- Provide direct guidance and support to underwriting teams with respect to pricing model infrastructure and price adequacy.
- Develop tools that enhance pricing and influence underwriting strategy.
- Provide clear and concise communication of technical actuarial work to stakeholders.
- Partner across multiple functions including underwriting, finance, claims, systems and reserving.
- Provide training to underwriters on pricing models, profitability metrics, and other actuarial topics as needed.
- Represent Liberty Mutual at WC Bureau actuarial committee meetings.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Associateship or Fellowship in the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS/FCAS) or in Society of Actuaries (ASA/FSA) designation preferred or comparable education/designation with relevant experience.
- Minimum 5-7 years relevant experience required.
- Sound knowledge of actuarial techniques and standards, as well as other business operations including financial, underwriting, legal, statistics, claims, sales, etc.
- Advanced communication and interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships and interact effectively with others within and outside the organization.
- Ability to motivate and mentor peers and motivate and train subordinates.
- Advanced computing skills (MS Office Excel, SAS, etc.) with ability to build complex models.
