JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Penn State University is seeking a skilled Senior Salesforce Developer. This is a critical lead role within the Enterprise Constituent Relationship Management (ECRM) program team who is implementing Salesforce solutions to meet the business needs and strategic goals of our institution.
Penn State is building an Enterprise Constituent Relationship Management program using the Salesforce.com platform. ECRM will help to manage our relationships and constituent information, so we can continue to grow as a University alongside all of the members of the Penn State community.
Currently ECRM Phase 1 and Phase 2 implementations are underway and consist of the following:
- Phase 1: Advancement & External Organization (Sales Cloud) – In collaboration with the Division of Development and Alumni Relations, corporate relations professionals, and Penn State Information Technology (PSIT), we are building a CRM instance to manage relationships with alumni, donors, corporate partners, and other external constituents.
- Phase 2: Learner Organization (Education Cloud) – In partnership with World Campus, the Fox Graduate School, and PSIT, we are developing a CRM instance focused on managing learner relationships from recruitment through graduation, including communications and case management.
- Marketing Cloud – We are implementing a communications automation platform for mass email/SMS journeys and preference/subscription management across both phases.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, implement, and maintain the Salesforce platform, ensuring seamless integration with associated applications and systems.
- Customize Salesforce features (Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Education Cloud) to meet business needs and ensure data integrity across all processes.
- Troubleshoot data integration issues and ensure timely resolution, maintaining high-quality integration standards.
- Document and maintain technical processes, workflows, test plans, and code to ensure clear understanding and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to analyze business requirements, translate them into technical solutions, and manage project timelines.
- Oversee Salesforce releases, updates, and new features while ensuring compliance with Penn State standards for usability, accessibility, and security.
- Serve as the technical lead for Salesforce development, providing guidance and strategic options for both clients and internal teams.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in Salesforce development and data integration, providing support and training to staff as needed.
Experience and Skills Required
- Expert knowledge of Salesforce products, architecture, data model, and security.
- Experience with Salesforce integrations using Informatica Cloud and third-party systems (REST/SOAP APIs).
- Proficient in Salesforce development (Apex, SOQL, LWC) and environment/release management.
- Strong understanding of code versioning, deployment methodologies, and Agile development.
- Ability to adapt in a dynamic environment and work both independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Education & Experience
- Minimally requires a bachelor’s degree and 6+ years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Salesforce Developer certification preferred but not required
- Higher education experience preferred
The location of this position is flexible and can operate fully remote within the United States, fully in-person at our University Park Campus, or in a hybrid model of both in-person and remote. Standard working hours are in the eastern time zone. Candidates must be able to work in the US without sponsorship.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:
$86,300.00 - $129,500.00
