Title: Combustion CFD Analyst - 109720
Onsite/Remote:Onsite Position
As a Combustion CFD Analyst for John Deere Power Systems located in Waterloo, IA, you will guide and execute simulation activities and support development of Compression Ignition (CI) and Spark Ignition (SI) combustion systems using a combination of simulation and modeling tools. In addition, you will:
- Provide technical guidance to internal and external projects, and ensure critical knowledge is captured and shared.
- Develop and maintain roadmap towards simulation toolset advancement including identification of roadblocks.
- Leverage consortiums, Universities, and Supplier relationships to support new design concepts, advance simulation methods, process improvements, and simulation capabilities.
- Ensure project results are documented including trade-off analysis, risks, processes, conclusions, and system requirements.

- 7 years of technical understanding of combustion, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and modeling techniques.
- 7 years of technical understanding of engine performance and emissions characteristics.
- 7 years of practical experience simulating SI and CI engine combustion processes: model development, correlation, and prediction of combustion, performance, and emissions.
- 7 years of experience in applying Design of Experiments and statistical analysis techniques.
- Ability to clearly communicate thoughts and ideas to coworkers and provide direction in simulation activities and input to physical test activities.
- 7 years of experience in leveraging data from a variety of data sources to correlate and develop combustion models.
- Basic understanding of aftertreatment systems and their interaction with engine performance.
- Working understanding of GT-Power, Fortran, Matlab, Simulink, commercial CFD programs, and combustion analysis tool sets..
- Masters Degree or higher
Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent related work experience.
