Description: Responsibilities:
- Perform Preliminary Hull Damage Assessment and Corrosion Assessment on all Stryker Family of Vehicles.
- Perform Welding tasks on all Stryker Family of Vehicles as a GDLS Certified welder in Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) processes.
- Perform welding procedures on accident damage / battle damage Stryker family of vehicles following engineering Structural Assessment.
- Perform welding procedures and task, advise and assist in the validation, and implementation of Welding as required.
- Determine layout and weld parts and assemblies according to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Conduct welding and maintenance tasks for installation of Retrofit kits of the Stryker family of vehicles.
- Identify and advise Supervisor/Management regarding problems within technical areas as required.
- Must meet certification requirements and perform scope of work in accordance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) specifications and procedures.
- Must complete certification for Nondestructive Testing (NDT) to become a Welder Self-Inspector. (Refer to JBLM Procedure 9585-234)
- Obtain and maintain required welding certifications to weld on Stryker Family of vehicles.
- Welding to include operation of slag tool, pre-heating, air arcing, grinding, plasma cutting equipment.
- Operate overhead crane and forklift.
- Perform pre and /or post operation and safety checks of equipment.
- Given Stryker welding Schematics, a Stryker Hull Final Structural Assessment and Repair Procedure, an NMC vehicle and the appropriate tools, the welder will have the knowledge to describe how to troubleshoot and develop a solution to overcome the spatial or structural-based difficulties.
- When not engaged in weld-related activities will support mission needs as a mechanic. Conduct services, repair and troubleshoot Stryker combat vehicles. Install kits to MWO standard.
- Overtime and off-shift work may be required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
- Must meet and maintain Anthropometric Size Restrictions (ASR) as outlined in Standard Practice (SP) 2-644.
- Must complete certification for Nondestructive Testing (NDT) to become a Welder Self-Inspector. (Refer to JBLM Procedure 9585-234)
- Must have extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications and acquired knowledge of GDLS processes, products and military technology.

- Successfully complete classroom requirements and on the job (OJT) as an inspector trainee and/or Limited Level II inspector.

- Visual Testing (VT) classroom requirements of 32 hours, pass the written exam and a total of 140 hours of contact hours.
- Liquid Dye Penetrant Testing (PT) classroom of 12 hours, pass written exam and 140 hours of contact hours.

- Must obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) for access to military bases.
- Must have high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Must satisfy weld entrance exam.
- Must satisfy skills test- including vision, audio, respirator clearance and physical.
- Two (2) years welding experience is preferred.
- Must be able to lift and handle a minimum weight of 70 lbs. weight limit.
- Required to certify on various metals and alloys.
- Required to obtain an overhead crane license.
- Required to obtain a forklift operator's license.
- Must be able to obtain three (3) welding certifications (flat, horizontal, vertical) within a 6-week time frame.
- Travel to off-site location will be required.
- Must be able to deploy both CONUS and OCONUS for extended periods of time.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- May be required to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical.
Working Conditions and Environment:
- Learning and understanding the fundamentals of General Dynamics weld procedures and requirements.
- Learning and understanding the function of General Dynamics Quality systems. Lifting and handling of various parts (including weld wire and tool bags)
- - minimum of 70 lb. weight handling limit.
- Climbing ladders and into and onto structures.
- Potential for walking and standing on uneven surfaces.
- Bending, kneeling, standing and stooping.
- Working in and around dust and fumes.
- Working in areas with a high noise volume.
- Welding hood is required at all times.
- Depending upon departmental assignment wearing a respirator may be required.
- Using hand tools including, but not limited to sledgehammer, pry bar, large wrenches, air/gas couplings.
- Operating overhead crane for lifting and moving material.
- May be required to operate a forklift to move material.
- Overtime and off-shift work may be required.

Position Salary Range: $34.10 per hour.
Position Incentive: Hired applicant will be eligible to receive an annual bonus.
