This role, due to the nature of work being completed or the equipment used on site, requires in-office presence on a full-time basis. This helps to ensure you are set up for success based on the job responsibilities.
Data center engineering is the process of designing, building, and maintaining data centers, which are facilities used to house and manage critical IT infrastructure, applications, and data. Data center engineers ensure the data center infrastructure's stability, reliability, and security. They are crucial in supporting the availability and performance of applications and services. This involves the design, construction, and maintenance of the physical infrastructure of a data center, including electrical and mechanical systems.
Datacenter DCIM engineering involves the evaluation, installation, and maintenance of the data collection and power distribution devices within the data center. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated engineer to join our data center team in Manassas, VA. This role involves managing the installation, configuration, and reporting of thousands of in rack power distribution units as well as busway power monitors and overall sensor deployment and maintenance. This role also involves working closely with various teams to maintain the accuracy of our DCIM tools, sensors, and underlying power and cooling infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
• Configure and troubleshoot cabinet power strips and busway monitors to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
• Work with data center providers' Building Management Systems (BMS) to integrate and manage infrastructure components.
• Collaborate with third-party monitoring application providers to ensure seamless integration and functionality.
• Administer and ensure data center/white-space infrastructure designs are well understood.
• Handle data center power strip and busway monitor deployments to ensure timely delivery and quality installation.
• Engineer and design data center infrastructure covering server/network cabinets, and power strips to meet customer needs and uptime.
• Develop and maintain processes and procedures associated with the management and deployment of data center infrastructure covering power planning, structured cabling, and mechanical needs.
• Support Controls projects related commissioning activities in the data centers.
• Train and assist internal customers and stakeholders with the creation, design, configuration, validation, installation, commissioning and operation of BMS and DCIM systems.
• Provide technical assistance and support to operations during life cycle of the data center.
• Deployment of software and automation improvements working closely with end users and business partners to support infrastructure management and planning.
• Support and improve data center monitoring applications.
• Be a resource for deployment and operations teams representing engineering concepts through to production deployments.
• Develop and maintain standards supporting operating procedures and engineering issues for problem incident management.
• Handle DCIM operations at data centers focusing on availability, service delivery, and internal customer relationship management.
• Analyze and resolve engineering critical issues.
• Utilize basic network and switch knowledge to support data center operations and infrastructure management.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent engineering science plus 5+ years of relevant controls experience, OR 8+ years of relevant controls experience in lieu of a degree.
• 5+ years of experience with industrial controls in critical environment (data center, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, oil & gas, petrochemical, laboratory, power, water etc.).
• Experience creating and/or executing large-scale critical infrastructure maintenance and reliability programs.
• Ability to create clear, consistent, and understandable technical documentation to be leveraged by partner teams.
• Professional certifications and experience with industry leading DCIM, EPMS, and BMS applications such as Sunbird / DC expert / Trellis / Ansis.
Preferred Qualifications:
• MS in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Controls/Automation)
• Experience designing, configuring, programming, installing, troubleshooting or servicing HVAC Controls or Electrical SCADA systems application specific controllers, software and networks.
• Experiencing using common industrial communication protocols (MQTT, SNMP, BACnet and/or MODBUS).
• Demonstrated understanding of engineering documentation, electrical and mechanical diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
• Ability to manage multiple stakeholder deliverables, requirements, and navigate difficult situations.
• Experience designing data centers or critical MEP infrastructure
• Registered as a Professional Engineer (PE), or certified Project Management Professional (PMP).

The pay range for this role is $103,000 to $170,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
