The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity available for an Urban Planner to join our team in Melbourne.
Reporting to the Team Leader of Land, Planning & Environmental Approvals, you will be delivering planning services to a range of projects in typically transport, maritime, water, and the built environment. Projects delivered may be discrete studies or plans, through to major infrastructure projects and can influence any stage of project life cycle.
This role will immediately contribute to delivering some of Melbourne’s critical water infrastructure.
You will collaborate with a large multi-disciplinary team and contribute to creative solutions that yield award winning outcomes.
Your role will include (but not limited to):
- Provision of statutory planning advice through various project stages (i.e. Development and Delivery)
- Managing and securing planning approvals including planning permit applications and reports, Heritage Act permits and exemptions and strategic planning advice
- Developing and maintaining good relationships with clients, authorities, community and internal stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes.
- Management of sub-consultants and delivery of technical documentation
- Working closely with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, planners, ecologists, urban designers and other built environment professionals

Who are you?
You are a driven planning professional who is searching for the opportunity to being a lead planner within Melbourne’s iconic infrastructure projects. You will have demonstrated your ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment, managing planning requirements and risks, while also leading junior planners.
You understand the importance of actively maintaining professional networks within the company and across the infrastructure industry, building strong relationships with a government departments and industry stakeholders.
You will have the following skills and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in planning, or similar
- Demonstrated experience as a planner (preferably as a planning consultant) with 5-10 years experience
- In-depth experience and understanding of statutory planning
- Demonstrated experience in the provision of planning advice for major or complex projects
- Strong stakeholder management skills, preferably you have had exposure to business development and marketing activities
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Eligibility for membership in a professional association
