Description:You will be the Manufacturing Engineer for the Optical Components Center. Our team is responsible for focusing on fabrication of optical components at our Missiles and Fire Control Business Area in Orlando, FL.
What You Will Be Doing
The manufacturing engineer position reports directly to the functional area manager in Orlando, FL. small team within the OCC that focuses on fabrication of optical components.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Provide technical guidance and support to optical operators to ensure optimal performance in current fabrication and metrology processes.
• Apply lean manufacturing techniques to reduce process variability and ultimately drive down cost while improving yield.
• Investigate root cause of failures/defects and implement corrective action to support continuous improvement.
• Lead non-recurring engineering efforts (NRE) such as developing manufacturing test plans and readiness reviews, and tooling design for new product integration (NPI).
• Drive capital equipment review, planning and insertion to ensure long term center stability.
• Leading R&D efforts to incorporate new technologies and drive implementation into a manufacturing environment.

Basic Qualifications:
• A completed bachelors degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Chemical or Material Science Engineering, or related discipline from an accredited college.
• Understanding of engineering fundamentals for mechanical design (CAD) and manufacturing including working knowledge of GD&T.
• Experience in optical manufacturing metrology methods including, but not limited to, interferometry, profilometry and CMMs.
• Due to facility requirements, all candidates must be U.S citizens
Desired Skills:
• Experience in at least one CAD software such as CREO, Solidworks, Siemens NX.
• Experience utilizing Zygo, 4D or similar metrology software packages are a plus.
• Data analysis to identify process adjustments and optimizations.
• Experience in on the floor manufacturing environments dealing with working machinery and operator process training
• Experience in optical manufacturing methods, such as grinding, polishing, ultraprecision diamond turning, optical molding or thin film coating.
• Experience or basic training in at least one programming language such as Python, Matlab or Excel VBA for use in data analysis.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
