Mechanical Packaging Engineer – Offshore
KBR Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) provides holistic and value-added solutions across the entire asset life cycle. These include world-class licensed process technologies, differentiated advisory services, deep technical domain expertise, energy transition solutions, high-end design capabilities, and smart solutions to optimize planned and operating assets.
Incumbent will be responsible for the specification and application of rotating machinery for onshore and offshore projects including compressors, turbines, pumps. Additional duties will include specification, selection and services relating to mechanical equipment such utility equipment, packaged units, material handling and bulk solids processing systems.
- Knowledgeable with analysis of fluid/thermal systems
- Basic understanding of machine design
- Familiarity with rotodynamic principals and analysis desirable.
- Perform technical bid evaluations.
- Vendor drawing review and engineering coordination of technical information with vendors and company engineering specialists.
- Witnessing of acceptance tests at vendor shops.
- Field commissioning and startup support when required.
- Manage mechanical and systems technical scope for supply of new packaged rotating equipment for onshore and offshore projects including gas turbine-generators, gas turbine-compressors, electric motor-driven compressor trains, and extended plant scope (coolers, scrubbers, anti-surge valves, etc.).
- Support Project Engineer to address technical concerns with internal and external clients.
- Ensure that the highest engineering standards are maintained within the mechanical engineering department during the design and manufacture of these products.
Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering field
- 7-10 years of progressive experience, specifically in rotating machinery specification and selection.
- Working knowledge of current API standards for rotating equipment, particularly centrifugal pumps, centrifugal compressors, and auxiliary systems.
- Experience with chemical, petrochemical, refining, and oil and gas projects is preferred, especially LNG liquefaction, ammonia, ethylene, refining and offshore facilities.
- Engineering contractor experience preferred
- Computer proficiency in MS Windows and related MS Office productivity software
- Additional experience with installation and commissioning is a plus
- Working knowledge of API standards for steam and gas turbines is a plus
- Certification as a Licensed Professional Engineer, or willingness to obtain
