Payments Domain Architect
The Payments Domain Architect is a critical leadership role responsible for defining and overseeing the architecture for payment solutions within an organization. This individual ensures the seamless integration of payment systems, compliance with regulatory requirements, and alignment with business goals. The Payments Domain Architect works closely with business stakeholders, technical teams, and external partners to deliver scalable, secure, and innovative payment capabilities. Successful candidates will exhibit excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and guide cross-functional teams. This role requires strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities. This role is ideal for a forward-thinking architect passionate about innovation in the payments space and driving business transformation through technology.

Position Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Define and maintain the architecture roadmap for payment solutions, aligning with organizational objectives and industry best practices.
- Provide strategic direction for the adoption of new payment technologies and innovations.
- Ensure alignment between business needs, technology strategies, and payment processes.
Solution Design and Development
- Design end-to-end payment solutions, covering systems such as payment gateways, processors, fraud detection, and settlement systems.
- Evaluate and recommend tools, platforms, and frameworks for payment processing.
- Drive the design and implementation of APIs and integrations for internal and external payment systems.
Compliance and Security
- Ensure compliance with regulations such as PCI-DSS, PSD2, and other industry standards.
- Design architectures with robust data protection, encryption, and fraud prevention measures.
- Regularly assess and mitigate risks associated with payment systems.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Partner with business leaders to translate payment requirements into technical solutions.
- Collaborate with product teams to develop user-centric payment features and experiences.
- Liaise with external vendors, partners, and financial institutions to ensure smooth integration and operation.
Governance and Standards
- Define architectural principles, standards, and guidelines for payment systems.
- Conduct architecture reviews and ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture principles.
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to engineering teams.
Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in Computer Science, Engineering or in a Technology related field, OR equivalent through a combination of education and/or technology experience, OR 12 years of technology experience
- 8 years of architecture experience
- 8 years of experience leading large, complex/critical technology projects
- 8 years of experience influencing strategy for large organizations
- 6 years of experience leading and mentoring others

Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- 10+ years of experience in IT, with 5+ years in a payments-related domain
- Strong experience in solution architecture and system integration, especially in payments
- In-depth understanding of payment processing systems, protocols (e.g., ISO 20022, SWIFT, NACHA), and technologies
- Hands-on experience with payment gateways, card networks, digital wallets, and real-time payments
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and microservices architectures
- Familiarity with compliance and regulatory frameworks (e.g., PCI-DSS, GDPR, PSD2)
Category C - Days in the office will either be designated days or will vary week to week from 2-5 days
8:00am - 5:00pm Monday - Friday
