Job Summary
The Performance Analysis Manager is responsible for collecting and analyzing operational data from various sources to identify performance trends and areas for improvement. Developing visual reports & tools to communicate insights to internal stakeholders for optimizing service metrics to drive strategic decision-making
Primary Activities and Responsibilities
- Create reporting and data visualization solutions for Operations department, encompassing everything from data procurement in SQL to dashboard development using Tableau and/or Power BI
- Serve as Subject Matter Expert on service metrics, providing thought leadership on the impact of operational changes on reported results
- Compile, validate and distill operating data to help CSX make sound business decisions
- Partner with Technology to oversee deployment of new data into the data warehouse
- Monitor performance metrics and provide ongoing data profiling to identify and correct anomalies
- Perform adhoc analyses to understand emerging operational trends and communicate to leadership
- Generate and distribute regulated measurements for the STB in weekly submissions
- Organize training material and communication of new and existing metricsMiscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree/4-year Degree
- 5 or more years of experience in Transportation, Logistics, Freight Planning, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Finance, or other field requiring substantial data analysis
- 2 or more years of Tableau experience
Equivalent Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- 7 or more years of experience in Transportation, Logistics, Freight Planning, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Finance, or other field requiring substantial data analysis
- 4 or more years of Tableau experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate Degree
- 5 or more years of experience in Transportation, Logistics, Freight Planning, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Finance, or other field requiring substantial data analysis
- Knowledge of or experience with Power BI
Knowledge and Skills
- Experience writing SQL queries and/or coding experience
- Experience in use of data analytics and visualization tools such as Tableau, Alteryx, Power BI, or any other data analytics or visualization tool
- Experience with rail information systems including YES, Operations Portal, ShipCSX, etc.
- Ability to analyze complex business issues
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Microsoft Office skills
- Strong time management skills
- Ability to address multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
