PenFed is hiring a (Hybrid) Staff Accountant at our Tysons, Virginia location. The purpose of this role is to compile, consolidate, and analyze accounting and finance information for production of financial reports and statements under limited supervision. This position is responsible for ensuring that documentation and process flows are complete, current, and accessible. Additionally, this role will perform research and analyses requested by management.
Responsibilities

Prepare journal entries, reconcile sub-ledgers, and complete extracts for report distribution. Produce monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting.
Reconcile and adjust various general ledger accounts and/or bank statements. Ensure accurate, complete, and timely transaction processing. Bring inconsistencies and problems to the attention of management.
Perform moderately complex analyses.
Respond to inquiries from internal and external customers.
Assist in testing and implementing changes to accounting functions and processes necessary to comply with changes in accounting regulations.
Recommend technological enhancements.
May serve as point of contact for accounts payable or accounts receivable transactions.
May perform moderately complex accounting projects or participate as a team member on more complex projects.
This role is responsible for ensuring business continuity.
Qualifications
Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.
Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent required.
Minimum of two to four (2-4) years of related experience in Accounting.
Proficiency in Excel required.
Strong analytical skills required.
Strong communication skills required.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an indoor office setting with moderate noise.
Most roles require working in an office setting with moderate noise and the ability to lift 25 pounds.
Travel
Ability to travel to various worksites and be on-call may be required.
