What Will You Be Doing?
The Sr. Director, Network Planning, Research and Performance leverages a variety of enterprise-wide data sources to analyze historic and future operations to ensure that the company is making the best decisions to support and grow the business. This role is responsible for departmental strategy and working across departments to improve communication between stakeholders, optimizing business processes, and providing leaders with better tools and information to run their business. In addition, you will oversee all aspects of short- and medium-term network and capacity planning and new route forecasting. Lead network and operational design analysis and optimization with focus on changes that improve operational performance, and development/updates of long-term capacity plans for business planning purposes.
Essential Functions
- Demonstrate, and develop in staff, expert level competence in key technical skills, including Sabre PE/Schedule Manager, MS Excel, SQL/SAS
- Present findings and recommendations to senior management regarding new route forecasts, strategic capacity plans, and network design changes to support operations efficiency and reliability
- Manage all aspects of capacity planning, new route forecasting, network and operational design analysis and optimization and development/updates of future capacity plans for business planning purposes
- Develop and maintain productive cross-functional relationships with Scheduling, Operations, Finance, Marketing, and others
- Contribute to the development of medium- and long-term business plans at Frontier, including key inputs in areas such as network growth/development and fleet planning
- Develop network and operational analysis function, driving key insights into production in the Frontier network
- Maintain reporting and keen awareness of key competitive changes using wide ranging industry data sources and reports
- Stay abreast of airline industry news and trends
- Support the leadership team in the development of the operation’s strategic plan. This includes leadership and support in identifying and/or assessing significant business opportunities, and development of our methods, tools and processes related to operational strategy development.
- Analyze schedule performance and block times to maximize schedule efficiency while ensuring sufficient maintenance touch time
- Review historical performance data and use that information to analyze future schedules to proactively identify problems and “pinch points” before they occur; work across the enterprise to minimize identified problem areas
- Champion Lean principles across the organization, using data to identify opportunities for improvement
- Work with stakeholders, leadership, and subject matter experts, to build a holistic view of the organization's operational strategy to include things like spare aircraft and MX allocations, turn times, block time strategy, schedule evaluations, operational goal changes, operational buffer use, etc.
- Lead the alignment of network execution to commercial plans (rolling 6-12 months) and prepare the operation for long-term network designs (1-5 years).
- Work with senior management to improve and develop strategic reporting tools, including self-service
- Develop and/or maintain data, analytics, and reporting, along with presentations to team members and the Board of Directors
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree preferred, Bachelor’s Degree required (Business, Finance, Supply Chain, Aerospace Management, or relevant field)
- Minimum 7 years of experience in general management, finance and/or operations with at least 7 years of supervisory experience in a similar work environment
- Minimum 7 years relevant Planning or Operational Analysis experience required, 5 years of which must be in airline or closely related industry
- Familiarity with ULCC airline planning/scheduling philosophy and practices
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage cross-functional relationships and business processes
- Departmental budget experience or prior large multifunction budget preparation experience required
- Experience with Six Sigma and Lean Principles preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Be able to lead and motivate a team
- Excellent time management and prioritization skills, with ability to handle multiple tasks
- Proficiency in MS Office with emphasize on Excel
- Ability to communicate clearly as well as draft correspondence in a clear and concise manner
