Are you a self-starter who possesses integrity and a willingness to learn and improve? We are seeking an experienced Electrical and Instrumentation Technician (E&I) for our Port Arthur, TX and Westlake, LA facilities. The individual will have responsibility for performing preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical/instrumentation equipment. The primary focus is to provide necessary technical and hands-on support to continuously improve plant electrical, instrumentation, and DCS equipment integrity, reliability, cost, and on-stream factor. This individual will be located at Port Arthur, but will support the Westlake facility as needed.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret complex electrical schematics, single line wiring diagrams, analog/discrete instrument loops, and ladder logic
- Understand and operate electrical test equipment (Digital and analog multi-meters, non-contact voltmeter, low resistance ohmmeter, phase rotation meter, ammeter, insulation resistance tester (megger)
- Maintain and troubleshoot calibration of electronic and digital process control equipment, related loop equipment, electric motors, and motor control circuitry
- Read blueprints and P&ID's
- Effectively use typical test and calibration equipment, including pneumatic calibrators, RTD calibrators, mA calibrators, T/C calibrators, and laptops for equipment communication
- Troubleshoot and repair the following: low and medium voltage control circuits in industrial motor control centers, induction/synchronous motors, UPS, SCR, and VFD's
- Work with and troubleshoot the following: vibration monitoring equipment, pressure, temperature, level, and flow measuring equipment, water analytical equipment including pH/ORP, conductivity, solenoids, limit & proximity switches, CEMS systems, and continuous analyzers
- Troubleshoot and repair control valves
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Formal electrical training is preferred (emphasis on formal technical school training/apprenticeship)
- A minimum of 5 years electrical experience in operation and maintenance of large industrial plants and 3 years of Electromechanical or Instrumentation & Electrical experience is preferred
- Military service in a related field a plus but not required (Aviation Electrician, Electronics Technician, Gas Turbine Technician, etc.)
- Previous experience working on substation equipment, protective relays, transformers, synchronous/induction motors and generators, motor control circuits, variable frequency drives, station batteries, and UPS systems
- Fabrication/installation experience of Electrical and Instrumentation equipment
- Strong personal safety philosophy
- Must be team oriented with a willingness to further develop technical skills
- Use SAP to enter and retrieve data
- Gas Turbine experience is advantageous but not required
- Work independently and in group settings as required
Education and Licensing Requirements:
- High school diploma/GED
- Trade/Technical degree, apprenticeship, or certification in a related field
Work Hours & Benefits:
- Work Schedule: 4/10s
- Periodic travel to Westlake, LA
- Must be willing to work overtime and participate in an on-call schedule
