Program Summary
The Marine Corps Prepositioning Program (MCPP) is based in Jacksonville, Florida. We provide maintenance and logistic services to the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) in support of this program. For over 35 years we have planned, coordinated, and executed the maintenance and logistic services for ground combat vehicles and support equipment for USMC Expeditionary Forces.
Job Summary
Responsible for the detailed scheduling and coordination and supervision of the Repair Support Team (RST) at the Watercraft Maintenance Center (WMC). The RST provides three primary functions. Conducts structural surveys (interior and exterior) to identify damage and/or deterioration of steel and aluminum waterborne craft hulls, decks, compartments, hatches, piping, installed equipment, deck fittings and related machinery. Ensures subcontractors perform corrosion control and paining systems of Improved Navy Lighterage System and other small craft in accordance with NAVSEA standards. Develops and writes work packages for Navy INLS, MPF-UB, LARC-V, and LCM-8 watercraft.
Roles and Responsibilities
The Repair Manager:
- Evaluates subcontractor technical and material requirements.
- Determines sequence and assignment of work on basis of work priority, scheduled milestones, and coordination with other manager’s schedules and milestones.
- Inspects work performed to ensure compliance with specifications and time schedules.
- Interprets specifications, drawings, work orders, technical instructions, and layouts.
- Coordinates department activities with other departments.
- Conducts functional and performance tests on completed work assignments.
- Schedules and tracks quality checkpoints for subcontracted work in accordance with NAVSEA standard items.
Other Duties:
- Performs responsibilities as a competent person in accordance with OSHA 29 CFR Standard 1915 for confined/enclosed spaces.
- Maintains and ensure compliance with ISO-9001 and ISO 14001 procedures and work instructions, administrative policies, and government regulations for quality control.
- Ensures employees are properly trained for repair functions.
- Ensures employees adhere to all safety requirements, procedures, and policies.
- Recommends or initiates personnel actions, such as rewards and recognition, promotions, transfers, discharges, and disciplinary actions.
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications
Job Posting Description
- Associates degree/or course work towards a degree in a related discipline. In lieu of degree, a combination of college credits or other formalized training, education, and directly related work experience may be considered.
- Ten (10) years of directly related work experience in U.S. Navy or commercial ship repair.
- Eight (8) years of supervisory experience in ship repair, ship building, or ship maintenance.
- Working knowledge of U.S. Navy or commercial ship repair packages.
- Working knowledge of shipyard activities with regards to requirements and resources.
- Working knowledge of ship repair materials, methods and equipment.
- Working knowledge of standard surface preparation and coating methods and techniques.
- Must possess the ability to safely utilize ladders; work at elevated heights and in confined spaces.
- Ability to comply with all established methods, quality standards, and time schedules applicable to this position.
- Have strong written and communication skills.
- Have intermediate level working knowledge of Microsoft Office software; Outlook, Word, Power Point, and Excel.
- Must have a current security clearance or be able to obtain a security clearance to access government websites.
- U.S. Citizen.
