The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Calibration Technician, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
- Responsible for the calibration, certification, and verified accuracy of test, measurement and diagnostic equipment and instruments to assure production processes are consistent for manufacturing quality parts. Also to include calibrated instruments and gages in Engineering Labs, Service Department, Shipping / Warehouse, CI Group, and Cycle Count Group. Must have the ability to work with and listen to people
- Responsible for the purchasing of replacement gages and new gages as needed (SAP use required)
- Develops calibration methods and techniques based on principles of measurement science and standards
- Provides technical advice on measurement problems, accuracy, and precision requirements
- Defines preventative maintenance processes and procedures, recommends, and assists with repairs; develop and write instrumentation and, calibration procedures
- Assist Engineering in understanding theory of operation and design for new instrumentation test equipment
- Assist Engineering with trouble shooting and perform system failure analysis.
- Understanding of pneumatics (high pressure air), ability to calibrate pressure gages, flow meters, torque wrenches and test stands
- Actively participate in accident, injury and illness prevention activities (i.e. injury prevention events – EHS Excellence Scorecard Process)
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED or higher
- A minimum of 5 years of Calibration experience
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Understanding of complex assembly and component prints. Including all GD&T, Views, and Notes
- Proficient in the use of all Hand Gages and other measurement equipment in the receiving area
- Understands and is proficient in ISO9001 standard and has conducted effective audits
- Able to create auditing sheets, turtle diagrams and follow instructions and understand production process flows
