The Systems Analyst (SA) works closely with the business and technical teams responsible for critical internal systems that support Cengage’s digital learning solutions. The SA is a major contributor to user requirements, understands business needs and ensures that there is integration between business and technology. The SA understands the software development lifecycle and has strong analytical skills. Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills are needed to help identify, communicate and resolve issues.
What You'll Do Here:

Assist in solution design by analyzing requirements; constructing workflow charts and diagrams; system diagrams; studying system capabilities; writing specifications

Improve systems by studying current practices; suggesting modifications
-
Recommend controls by identifying problems; writing improved procedures
-
Monitor progress of work by tracking activity; resolving problems; recommending actions
-
Maintain system protocols by writing and updating procedures
-
Partner with engineering teams to develop software solutions and participate in Integration
-
Testing, User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and Functionality Testing
-
Maintain professional and technical knowledge of relevant Cengage systems
-
Resolve customer-reported errors in accordance with defined SLA’s
-
Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Skills You Will Need Here:
-
Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
-
Demonstrated expertise with writing detailed requirements and acceptance criteria
-
Demonstrable ability to quickly grasp system architecture inter-dependencies and recommend implementation options
-
Working experience with Agile software development methodologies and tools
-
Prior experience building consensus within and across multi-functional project teams
-
Demonstrable experience leading and influencing solutions
-
Familiarity with programming languages
-
Demonstrable experience working independently, balance challenging priorities and handling several time-sensitive projects with minimal direction in a fast-paced environment
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical staff
-
Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving demeanor.

Past experience working as a Systems Analyst

Passion for working in the academic, professional or library markets.

The full base pay range has been provided for this position. Individual base pay will vary based on work schedule, qualifications, experience, internal equity, and geographic location. Sales roles often incorporate a significant incentive compensation program beyond this base pay range.
