Sr Accountant - Tax
Position Description
KBR is seeking a Sr. Tax Accountants to initiate and prepare US federal (including US International), state and local tax reports, returns, and other information connected to US Income taxes. Under general supervision, solves complex problems requiring detailed knowledge of field and industry best practices. Uses experience and problem-solving skills to develop and improve processes. May provide guidance to less experienced team members.
Responsibilities:
- Preparation of US income tax returns or other tax documents, including related maintenance, processing, and analysis of accounting records to ensure timely and accurate reporting or tax planning. Income tax return expectations include:
- Form 1120, U.S. Corporation Income Tax Return, consolidated and separate, and corresponding consolidated and separately filed state income tax returns
- Form 1065, U.S. Return of Partnership Income and corresponding state income tax returns.
- US International compliance work including Forms 5471, 8858, 8865, 1118, 8990, 8991, 8992, 8993. Understanding of US anti-deferral tax regulations and TCJA computations.
- US State Income & Franchise Tax Returns (consolidated, nexus combined, & separate)
- Review returns of lower-tier analysts for accuracy to ensure final submissions are correct.
- Analysis and reconciliation of deferred balances for US Income Tax Accounting, including researching specific matters to tax accounting and compliance
- Prepare supporting documentation for organized audit trail to minimize audit assessment and future audit exposure.
- The Sr. Tax Accountant will assist with US federal, state and local tax audits gathering all pertinent information and performing any analysis to satisfy audit requests.
- Actively research process improvements as needed to ensure efficiency.
- Prepare quarterly account reconciliations to identify discrepancies and ensure accurate reporting.
- Develop good working relationships with various counterparts within the company to ensure accurate data support.
- Identify opportunities for innovation and share ideas for transformation that will drive value in the tax organization
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; accounting/finance preferred; 4+ years of experience
- CPA preferred or CPA eligible
- Working knowledge of financial systems such as SAP, Costpoint, Microsoft Dynamics & Hyperion.
- Working knowledge of data analysis tools such as Excel/Power BI, Alteryx, etc.
- Work experience in a US based multinational corporation’s tax department
- OneSource Income Tax (OIT) and Provision (OTP) preferred
- Strong communication, organizational and analytical skills
