Assistant Manager/Supervisor
Position Description
KBR is seeking an Assistant Tax Manager for the US Federal (including US International), and state income tax accounting & compliance team. The Assistant Tax Manager oversee a initiate and prepare US federal, state and local tax reports, returns, and other information connected to US Income taxes. Under general supervision, solves complex problems requiring detailed knowledge of field and industry best practices. Uses experience and problem-solving skills to develop and improve processes. May provide guidance to less experienced team members.
Responsibilities:
Tax Reporting:
- Active preparation & review of US income tax quarterly and annual tax provision calculations under ASC 740.
- Analysis and reconciliation of deferred balances for US Income Tax Accounting, including researching specific matters to tax accounting and compliance
- Assist in the review and oversight over the preparation of quarterly tax projections and required estimated tax payments
- Prepare quarterly account reconciliations to identify discrepancies and ensure accurate reporting.
Tax Compliance:
- Active review of US income tax returns or other tax documents, including related maintenance, processing, and analysis of accounting records to ensure timely and accurate reporting or tax planning. Income tax return expectations include:
- US Federal Corporate & Partnership compliance
- US State Income & Franchise Tax compliance (consolidated, nexus combined, & separate)
- US International compliance work including Forms 5471, 8858, 8865, 1118, 8990, 8991, 8992, 8993. Understanding of US anti-deferral tax regulations and TCJA computations. Transfer pricing support
Leadership and Collaboration:
- Manage and mentor junior tax staff, providing training and development opportunities.
- Work closely with the US based tax team, finance and accounting teams to ensure seamless coordination of tax reporting and financial close processes.
- Implement process improvements as needed to ensure efficiency.
- Identify opportunities for innovation and share ideas for transformation that will drive value in the tax organization
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; accounting/finance preferred; 5+ years of experience
- CPA preferred or CPA eligible
- Working knowledge of financial systems such as SAP, Cost point, Microsoft Dynamics & Hyperion.
- Work experience in a US based multinational corporation’s tax department
- Ability to explain/teach basics of US International Tax concepts
- Working knowledge of data analysis tools such as Excel/Power BI, Alteryx, etc.
- OneSource Income Tax (OIT) and Provision (OTP) preferred
- Strong communication, organizational and analytical skills
