Learn about the Trident II D5 Fleet Ballistic Missile. The D5 Life Extension 2 (LE2) Missile Chief Engineer supports the design and development of the Trident II Life Extension 2 Flight System for the U.S. Navy. This technical position supports and collaborates with the FBM Chief Engineer and FBM Modernization Chief Engineer to ensure LM technical design integrity through all phases of the life cycle, balances schedule demands without sacrificing technical rigor by developing technical risk assessments and mitigation approaches to deliver required capability.
The successful individual:
• Focuses on new development scope, and integration of enterprise resources (E&T analysis, technical baselines, Center of Excellence resources, Digital Transformation), to ensure development success
• Supports the FBM Chief Engineer’s office to ensure overall technical rigor and adherence to engineering standards and processes to support the needs of the LE2 program
• Engages in architecture definition and trades and serves as chair of the Engineering Review Board
• Provides technical inputs to the FBM Chief Engineer’s Office for overall architecture and system performance including technical performance measurements and risk assessments
• Leads the definition of technology development roadmaps and insertion including Model Based Engineering transformation
• Ensures selected designs are robust and include appropriate margins to facilitate safety, performance, producibility and operational availability/supportability
• Leads special assignment projects to address and drive closure on key program technical concerns
• Ensures identification of lessons-learned and corrective action are initiated and implemented to improve future and ongoing programs

• Experience with complex missile or launch vehicle systems with demonstrated expertise in systems integration, engineering, test and/or deployment of complex systems.
• Demonstrated flight system integration experience including integration of required ground support equipment
• Experience with Model Based Engineering and Agile tools and methods.
• Current Secret security clearance required, US Citizenship with the eligibility to obtain and maintain Top Secret clearance.
Desired Skills:• Masters degree in Science or Engineering preferred
• Experience as a conceptual thinker with ability to proactively translate into action and results
• Experience in strategic nuclear missile systems
• Experience in key technologies or applicable skills: Navigation, Guidance, and Control; Flight Computers; Communications; Power

• Demonstrated ability to be accountable by engaging at detailed working level as required to integrate and resolve critical issues and meet all program objectives.
• Demonstrated ability to make appropriate risk-balanced decisions to achieve major and critical goals and objectives of project.
• Excellent communication skills, with experience in engaging and influencing executive leadership, associate contractors, and external customers.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively influence conceptual and development efforts within LM and Customer organizations.
• Current Top Secret security clearance

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Washington or Washington DC is $168,500 - $322,900. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year. This position is incentive plan eligible.
