Job Summary:
We will train recent engineering graduates! Trane Technologies in Shreveport, LA is searching for an Estimator to join its team. In this role you will work directly with Customers, Account Managers, Project Managers, Sub-contractors, and Material Suppliers to ensure timely completion of assigned projects and customer satisfaction. Responsible for coordinating selections, estimates, scope of work and pricing for Controls / Building Automation Systems.
Responsibilities:
- Performs construction plan review or other requirements as determined by project needs, constraints, and responsibilities to meet all of the customer’s facility requirements.
- Utilizes plans, specifications, and knowledge of controls/construction industry to analyze project needs and compiles detailed cost estimates and scopes of work.
- Responsible for identifying possible cost saving opportunities and/or risk items that may occur on various projects.
- Optimizes job costs by negotiating prices with vendors/sub-contractors through quotations for materials/services.
- Develops the scope of work for sub-contractors by preparing scope definition, exceptions/ exclusions, inclusions, preliminary proposal and system riser/ sketches.
- Receives and qualifies subcontractor proposals
- Clarifies, reconciles, and adjusts information gaps and scope deviations with operations group.
- Responsible for holding job pre-bid meeting to review scope, strategy, etc.
- Documents work by maintaining files for each job.
- Maintains competitive advantage by staying current with industry standards.
Preferred Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or related field preferred.
