Position Overview:
Under the direction of the Value Stream Coach, this position is responsible for helping drive continuous improvement in overall operations through the implementation of lean transformation and daily management initiatives. This role drives improvements through tactical support of Kaizen, RIEs, and other lean transformation activities.
Responsibilities:
- Train and coach hourly operators and other employees on lean tools and processes
- Support Kaizen events comprised of multi-functional team members
- Lead execution and coaching of visual workplace through 5S process (sort, set in order, shine, standardize, sustain) across all work areas in value stream
- Conducting cycle time analyses, time studies, line balance improvements, work-place analysis and improvement
- Participating in, co-facilitating or facilitating projects, RIEs and “just do-it’s”
- Providing necessary training specific to Lean Transformation tools and methodology (under the guidance of the Value Stream Coach
- Helping update/maintain visual performance tools, including Mission Control, Standard Work and MDI boards
- Following up on action plans and coaching owners to complete items
- Assisting all teams as needed to ensure improvements are made and sustained
- Obtaining required fixtures, tools, work aids, poke yokes to support work-place changes
- Implementing / coaching the use of visual management and Andon tools
- Assisting operations in problem solving issues affecting takt attainment
- Driving OpEx culture change through coaching of employees and leaders to follow BOS standards
Qualifications/Experience:
- Must be prepared for occasional flexible work hours.
- A minimum 2 year degree in Engineering, Business, or relevant field is strongly preferred and / or experience working in a manufacturing environment implementing foundational lean tools.
- Familiarity with A3 problem solving, RIE participation, and have examples of how you have contributed to continuous improvement.
- Working knowledge of computers and MS Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet Explorer) strongly preferred.
- Must demonstrate strong communication skills and ability to coach up 1-2 levels with success.
- Must display initiative and creativity in problem solving and the ability to pursue continuous improvement.
- Must be team-focused and cooperative across teams and shifts.
- Must be outgoing, high energy person comfortable motivating and inspiring others.
- Must be passionate about driving continuous improvement wherever possible.
