Job Title: Structured Cabling Technician – Level 1
Position Overview:
The Level 1 Structured Cabling Technician is responsible for assisting with the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of structured cabling systems. This entry-level role supports senior technicians and project teams to ensure successful execution of cabling projects, including voice, data, and video communication systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the installation of structured cabling systems, including Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a, and fiber optic cables.
- Pull, route, and terminate cables under supervision.
- Label, test, and document cabling systems to meet industry standards.
- Perform basic troubleshooting of connectivity issues.
- Install j-hooks, ladder racks, conduit, and other cable support hardware.
- Assist in the installation of patch panels, racks, and other infrastructure components.
- Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Support senior technicians and team leaders with project tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 0-2 years of experience in structured cabling or related field (training provided).
- Familiarity with basic hand tools (wire cutters, crimpers, drills, etc.).
- Ability to follow instructions, learn technical concepts, and work as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of cable types and their uses.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
- Valid Drivers License
- Reliable Transportation
- Ability to pass Background and Drug Testing
Preferred Skills:
- Basic understanding of TIA/EIA standards.
- Experience working with Cat5e/6 cabling.
- OSHA 10 certification (optional but preferred).
- Desire to learn and grow within the industry.
Work Environment:
- Work sites may include construction zones, commercial buildings, and data centers.
- Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, or travel as needed.
- Adherence to safety standards and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
