POWER MARKET ANALYSIS ASSOCIATE
We are seeking a Power Market Analysis Associate to support our analytical and programming needs within power markets and transmission systems. The ideal candidate will possess detailed knowledge of power markets (e.g., PJM, MISO, ERCOT, CAISO, or others), Locational Marginal Prices (LMPs), and transmission systems, alongside solid programming and database management skills.
What you’ll be doing:
- Conduct analysis of power markets and Locational Marginal Pricing (LMPs) to assess trends, performance, and system dynamics.
- Analyze transmission systems and their influence on market prices and reliability.
- Write scripts/programs to automate data analysis and reporting tasks.
- Develop, manage, and maintain databases in MS Access, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL.
- Collaborate with teams to provide data-driven insights into market operations, forecasting, and system behavior.
- Generate technical reports, dashboards, and presentations to communicate findings effectively.
- Support research projects related to power systems, market optimization, or economic studies.
What we’re looking for:
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, Data Science, Computer Science, Economics, or related field.
Power Markets Knowledge:
- Understanding of energy markets (e.g., PJM, MISO, ERCOT, CAISO, or others).
- Familiarity with Locational Marginal Prices (LMPs) and key transmission system components.
Programming Skills:
- Ability to write clean and efficient scripts or simple programs.
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, R, MATLAB, or similar).
Database Management:
- Experience with databases such as MS Access, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL.
- Ability to query, manage, and analyze large datasets.
Analytical Skills:
- Strong ability to analyze data and generate insights.
- Understanding of electric power systems and their economic impact is a plus.
