Currently, we have an opportunity for a Director of Project Management to join our growing Power Delivery Solutions team.
Position:
The Director of Project Management will report to the Project Management Office (PMO) and work closely with regional leaders, senior management, and technical teams to support large-scale program portfolios for multiple utility clients. The successful candidate will bring direct experience working for a utility as a project manager, have a proven track record of team leadership and talent acquisition, and possess deep expertise in commercial consulting within the T&D utility industry.
This position will be part of an established Project Management Office that is focused on expanding and executing a portfolio of distribution line, transmission line, substation, system planning and project management with both public-owned and investor-owned electric utilities. The candidate will have the opportunity to provide input and influence the strategic growth of the organization as well as help shape the culture of a dynamic team across our service territory. The position requires electric utility experience along with exemplary program and account management and leadership skills.
Travel:
Travel may range between 25% of total work hours to engage with clients or program teams. Although this role has remote capabilities, Candidates must be located in or adjacent to the Northeastern United States to be considered. This allows Leidos to best serve our regionalized utility customers.
Program Management Responsibilities include:
- Lead and oversee a portfolio of Transmission, Substation, and Distribution projects for public and investor-owned electric utilities.
- Manage large-scale programs ensuring scope, schedule, budget, and quality expectations are met.
- Develop recovery plans to mitigate risks and maintain stakeholder-approved project parameters.
- Monitor program performance, leveraging dashboards, KPIs, and other tracking tools.
- Implement quality control processes to maintain high standards in project deliverables.
- Prepare and review comprehensive technical and project reports for both clients and internal senior management.
Stakeholder & Resource Management Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary client interface, reporting on project progress, costs, schedules, and risks.
- Lead cross-functional collaboration between clients, project teams, subcontractors, and internal support teams.
- Supervise and mentor a diverse team of project managers, schedulers, controllers, and multi-discipline engineers.
- Strategically assess and manage staffing needs, ensuring the right mix of talent is available to meet project demands.
- Play an active role in talent acquisition, including interviewing, candidate selection, and workforce development.
Business Development & Strategic Growth Activities:
- Work with senior leadership to shape the PMO culture and organizational vision.
- Develop and execute strategic account plans to drive business growth.
- Identify and pursue new opportunities, leveraging existing contracts and expanding into new markets.
- Lead large-scale proposal development efforts, defining scope, schedule, and budget requirements.
- Drive process standardization and implement innovative solutions to enhance operational efficiency.
Required Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in utility project management with direct experience working for an electric utility.
- 5+ years of leadership experience, managing large teams, project portfolios, and talent acquisition efforts.
- Completed Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, finance, or other related discipline
- Commercial consulting experience within the T&D utility industry (i.e., engineering, construction, or project management services for utilities).
- Proven success in program management, stakeholder coordination, and business development.
- Ability to strategically manage resources and staff recruitment efforts to support project portfolios.
- Strong understanding of utility capital project execution, contract management, and risk mitigation.
- Experience leading large-scale proposals and account planning efforts.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $112,450.00 - $203,275.00
