The BentoBox Marketing and Commerce Platform delivers a seamless guest experience dedicated to accelerating growth and helping restaurants thrive. The BentoBox platform empowers modern restaurants to build their online presence, diversify revenue, engage with diners, and increase operational efficiency. To do so, the platform includes products such as websites, ordering (online ordering, pre-order & catering, gift cards, merchandise, tickets), events management, and marketing tools.
We are hiring a Senior Data Engineer to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a cross-functional data practice within a SaaS company that serves the hospitality industry. You’ll play a crucial role in empowering our business to make data informed decisions by surfacing insightful data to internal stakeholders and customers. Our data stack is based on Stitch, Snowflake, dbt, and Looker.
What You’ll Do:
Design integration and insights architecture from a variety of data sources to power our customer reporting platform.
Partner with our Product Engineering Team to develop high performance ETL systems for in-application use.
Contribute to the setup of cross-functional company reporting, dashboards, and analysis based on an in-depth understanding of our business model, product and operational KPIs.
Write and maintain SQL code on an ongoing basis to provide insights and check data for accuracy and validity.
Support various team initiatives on an ad-hoc basis by fielding requests for reports and dashboards, providing advice and insight along with the data.
Analyze complex data sets, not only looking for trends, but also meaningful edge cases. Clearly communicate findings to leadership and other key stakeholders as needed.
Establish a best-in-class data practice within the organization by vetting and recommending tools, workflows, and infrastructure.
What You Need To Have:
5+ years of experience in data engineering or analytics engineering roles
Strong SQL skills and experience with at least one major database system (PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.)
Experience with modern data workflow tools (strong preference for dbt experience)
Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines
Familiarity with version control and continuous integration/deployment for data systems
Knowledge of data modeling techniques and best practices
Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Looker, Power BI)
Familiarity with real-time data processing frameworks (Kafka, Spark, etc.)
Experience with cloud data platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure, Snowflake)
