WHAT WE'RE DOINGThe Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems (RMS) Systems of Systems Artificial Intelligence (AI) team is looking for a Manassas AI Research Engineer to focus on researching AI and machine learning techniques for use in production and deployment.
THE WORKThe AI Research Engineer will work on a broad range of projects from research & development to prototype development, culminating in deployment of our products to customers. It will entail Machine Learning and deployment to the edge while working with a close knit team.
Daily responsibilities include:-Research, analysis of mathematical and AI techniques in papers.
-Implementation of techniques, and experiment management.
-Inserting AI into defense systems, delivered through our AI Factory in partnership with our lines of business.
WHO YOU AREThe successful candidate will have a strong background in areas like: • Mathematics (or other STEM fields), artificial intelligence and Machine Learning.
• Strong problem solving mindset: ability to develop create solutions to difficult problems often requiring integration of conflicting and, at times, ambiguous or incomplete data on a fast-paced schedule.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate complex design information, technical decision and issues to both highly technical and non-technical peers.
• Ability to build and maintain relationships across organizations, collaborate with others, engage in constructive conflict, and manage interpersonal dynamics – not afraid to challenge the existing approach to solutions
• Comfortable working in a fast paced and dynamic multi-disciplinary environment.

Basic Qualifications:• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mathematics, Machine Learning, Computer Science, or related STEM degree
• Experience with AI/ML: research, reference implementations, models, and dataset management
• Ability to obtain a security clearance and willing to work onsite with our team in Manassas, VA in our advanced development lab
Desired Skills:• Experience with AI/ML domain programming languages (e.g. Python, C++, Linux), models, frameworks, and toolsets
• Analytical background in mathematics, acoustics, or signal processing.
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.
Clearance Level: Secret

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
