What does a successful Platform Engineering Architect (Kubernetes) do at Fiserv?
You will be responsible for architecture and engineering of Kubernetes platforms. You will also be responsible for the design and development of Kubernetes Infrastructure as Code (IaaC) on public and private clouds.
What you will do:
- Develop and maintain a roadmap aligned with current and emerging strategic initiatives.
- Collaborate with development teams, product managers, business leaders, engineering, operations teams, and security teams to identify and deliver features of value to the users and the enterprise.
- Promote automation techniques and DevOps practices to improve the infrastructure and software life cycle including infrastructure and application uptime, availability, time-to-market, and value flow for users.
- Design, implement, and operate automated container services platforms for customer onboarding and Kubernetes management: migrate workloads, containerize workflows, ensure high availability, manage networking, service routing, observability, and integration with enterprise services.
- Develop APIs and tools for secure, reliable, and automated consumption of containerized resources; integrate with CI/CD pipelines and ensure platform security.
- Participate in technical troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and remediation efforts as needed.
- Develop methodology and tooling as required in support of observability of applications and platforms to support efforts such as capacity planning, workload placement balancing, and chargeback.
What you will need to have:
- 10+ years of experience in distributed computing environments, container build and runtime technologies, Kubernetes cluster deployments, including VMware PKS/TKGI and IBM/RedHat OpenShift, and public cloud infrastructure: Azure, Amazon, GCP.
- 5+ years of experience with architectural leadership integrating Kubernetes into large enterprises with cybersecurity and regulatory requirements.
- 5+ years of experience with infrastructure automation APIs, IaaC tools, Terraform, Ansible, CI/CD pipelines, and container observability technologies: Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, Wavefront.
- 5+ years of experience deploying and managing service meshes such as Istio.
- 5+ years of experience in managing and building centralized container repositories to streamline container storage, distribution, and version control.
- 5+ years of experience with Linux systems, Windows systems as well as programming and scripting languages: Golang, Python, Bash.
- 5+ years of experience with virtual computing environments, TCP/IP network concepts, and CNI provider implementations.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, work, or military experience.
