We are looking for an Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Research and Development Manager who will lead and participate as part of a team dedicated to developing and inserting cutting edge technology into current and future LM Space advanced programs. You must have an enterprising spirit and the ability to forge enduring relationships with internal and external customers, and to shape and capture new business while balancing management and technical responsibilities. You will be responsible for the successful planning and execution of a portfolio of research, technology insertion and program support, while leading 10-15 experienced professional technologists, engineers, and scientists. This "leader with vision" position will be responsible for developing and managing a portfolio of projects to include both internally and externally funded R&D. We will look to you to reach across industry and academia to build relationships and discover new technologies. You will be expected to represent Lockheed Martin Space and the ATC at industry conferences and symposia and to build relationships with DoD, NASA, and other government R&D funding centers. In addition, you will build an active, externally funded research and development portfolio.
Successful candidate communicates effectively, developing concise and professional technical presentation materials for peers, management, and customers. You should have demonstrated interpersonal and written communication skills. To execute successfully, you will also work with cross-functional teams that span geographies and reporting structures. As a result of this geographic diversity, travel to domestic locations is expected.
It is expected that you will balance functional management tasks, i.e. department and personnel management, while completing direct technical work including technology development & transition, and program management including new business development.
Basic Qualifications:· Master’s degree in a relevant scientific/engineering field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
· Demonstrated leadership in resolving technical challenges with system-level perspective
· Demonstrated ability to lead a broad-based technical group, with a focus on a collaborative environment
· Experience in leading and managing IRAD and CRAD programs
· Demonstrated ability, experience and willingness to lead proposal, capture management and new business development
· Experience in the analysis, design, and development of materials and processes
· Demonstrated ability to interact with customers, scientists, engineers, program management and leadership to foster a collaborative research environment
· US Citizenship with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance
Desired Skills:· Experience in leading and managing IRAD and CRAD programs

· Demonstrated ability to transition technology into systems and products
· Doctoral degree with a focus in Materials Science, Chemistry, Additive Manufacturing, Metallurgy, or Advanced Manufacturing Processes.
· Demonstrated experience in advanced manufacturing and materials and process technologies for spacecraft, aircraft, missiles, rockets and/or ground-based systems for aerospace applications.
· Demonstrated experience with the state of the art in additive and/or advanced manufacturing for titanium, aluminum and other metals for aerospace applications.
· Demonstrated experience with novel material development and/or novel applications of materials to solve Space relevant challenges
· Documented record of developing, winning, and managing a portfolio of advanced manufacturing and/or materials R&D projects.
· Experience in ICME and digital manufacturing.
· Recognized as a subject matter expert in advanced materials and/or manufacturing through publication, participation in professional societies, and serving on professional committees
· Established relationships with various government and non-government space research and development organizations such as AFRL, ONR, ARL, MIIs, MDA, NASA and other government manufacturing R&D centers
· Experience with data analytics and/or machine learning as applied to materials and manufacturing processes
· Knowledge of aerospace product lifecycles
· Leadership in the application of new technologies into legacy systems
· Experience developing flight-qualified and space-qualified hardware, materials or processes
· Active TS/SCI clearance

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Washington or Washington DC is $134,000 - $236,325. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
