The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Business Development team is seeking a motivated, high performing Senior Business Development Field Marketing Representative (Level 5) in Virginia Beach, VA.
Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for an exceptional proven performer in the Virginia Beach, VA Field Marketing Office. This position will report to the BDS Global Marketing Director of U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps Programs. Boeing is seeking a business development and marketing professional who is skilled in leveraging resources and knowledge of Boeing related Aviation products, weapons, services, technologies, processes and operations. The candidate will focus on supporting customer needs, developing customer’s most important requirements, gaining competitive advantage and fostering Boeing’s business growth by creating, maintaining and advancing customer relationships toward a trusted business partner, while providing unparalleled customer understanding and achieving sales and orders for good business for BDS and BGS (Boeing Global Services). This individual will play a lead role in supporting BDS and BGS leaders with accurate knowledge of customer priorities, program execution issues, identifying capability gaps and creating opportunities, customer engagement plans, campaign capture plans and win strategies to maximize a probability of win, proposal development, competitive analysis, innovative winning business models, partnerships/alliances with other companies, and development and execution of the Boeing programs growth strategy to gain a competitive advantage and meet or exceed the Long Range Business Plan.
Position Responsibilities:
Must be able to develop and maintain unparalleled customer understanding to support Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) and Boeing Global Services (BGS) business, and represent The Boeing Company to key US Navy operational customers in the Norfolk and Virginia Beach area leading the focus on growing the business and keeping existing programs sold.
Lead the development of customer relationships necessary to better understand the customer’s requirements, enduring needs and decision-making processes.
Develop an understanding of relevant BDS/BGS programs and new business initiatives.
Have the ability to convey the company’s capabilities to the customer and communicate customer requirements to company management and senior leaders.
Lead the support of BGS, Bombers and Fighters, Cruise and Missile Systems (CMS), Autonomous Systems (AS) and Phantom Works (PW) Business Units (BU) new business pursuits in the Norfolk and Virginia Beach area.
Establish and maintain close relationships between Global Marketing and the BU to ensure a single Boeing face to the customer.
Participate in BDS Global Sales & Marketing strategy execution and market shaping activities to help BDS grow aggressively into adjacencies and expand internationally as well as execute flawlessly current programs to satisfy customers and extend core business. (not a thing)
Provide leadership and support international business pursuits to include working with and influencing U.S. Fleet Forces Command (USFFC), Naval Air Force Atlantic, Strike Fighter Wing Atlantic (SFWL), Carrier Air Wings and subordinate commands to provide advocacy and support for Boeing business campaigns.
Ensure coordination among various Boeing businesses and Global Marketing Offices working with US Government customers and supporting agencies worldwide.
Actively lead and participate in local area industry groups/associations, and local community professional associations as required to enhance Boeing’s image as a good neighbor and community partner. yes

A two-way conduit or liaison between Boeing corporate and operational commands.
Coordinate site visits to Hampton Roads area, to include AIRLANT, CPRG, and the Maintenance Operations Center
Coordinate high level Navy visits to St. Louis
Work with BDS and BGS for FA-18 Service Life Modification
Work with BGS for FA-18 sustainment
Work with BDS, BGS, and across Navy equities for FA-18 training, both ashore and afloat
Advocate for Boeing FSRs
Provide flight line to major commander perspective to aid Boeing IRAD decisions
Provide flight line perspective in the development of other Boeing products: MQ, T-7, CCA, New simulator
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at Virginia Beach, VA.
This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Experience with DOD and/or government acquisition processes
15+ years of experience as a Naval Aviator
Experience with Naval Warfare requirements, acquisition, and Office of the Chief of Naval Operations (OPNAV) Planning Programming Budgeting and Execution (PPBE) process
Experience developing and maintaining strong customer relationships with key stakeholders in the United States Navy requirements organization, and/or United States Navy procurement organization.
Experience leading through influence and partnering with cross-functional teams on projects and initiatives
Proficiency and experience working with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
An active U.S. Top Secret Security/SCI Clearance or the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance. (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)
The ideal candidate would be a recently retired Aviation Warfare O-6 with Major Command Experience and has also had direct involvement in CONOPs development and Naval Warfare Requirements generation.
10+ years of experience interfacing directly with military officials and executives
Knowledge of OPNAV staff, Major Commands and Combatant Commands and the USN’s capability areas, organizations, operations, processes, training, logistics and weapons systems.
Graduate from one or more of the National/Service War Colleges is desired.
Possesses unparalleled customer understanding and familiarity of Norfolk and Virginia Beach area customers and their missions focusing on but not limited to USFFC, Naval Air Force Atlantic, Commander, Strike Fighter Wing Atlantic (CSFWL), Carrier Air Wing and their relationships with each other and their subordinates and other US military.
Possess significant expertise in Naval Warfare Requirements, acquisition and OPNAV PPBE processes. Current in-depth understanding of the roles and missions of U.S. Fleet Forces Command, Naval Air Force Atlantic, and Strike Fighter Wing Atlantic.
Must have the ability to articulate one’s thoughts and positions and communicate with a diverse audience to include senior customers and Boeing executives. Uses clear and concise writing skills (i.e., weekly reports, customer contact plans, customer briefings).
Demonstrates the competency and ability to build long-term relationships with internal and external customers by understanding their current and future needs; meets commitments to customers on time, keeping them informed; seek and use customer feedback.
Demonstrated ability and willingness to take ownership of work activities, being a self-starter, taking independent action, and ensuring work assignments are completed accurately and on time.
The position requires that the candidate have the ability to effectively lead teams across multiple business units and functions.
Always acts with reliable, ethical behavior, displaying honesty and accountability for decisions, works or actions.
Demonstrated willingness to seek out additional assignments or tasks, and adjusts one’s position and emphasis as the market and customers change and evolve.
Experience in contributing to pursuit/capture teams and proposal review teams to support new business development a plus.
Demonstrated ability to prepare briefs and technical data to support customer visits. Understanding competitors and competitor activities and being able to understand the potential impact on Boeing.
Demonstrated ability to brief at the highest levels.
Must be capable of professionally representing The Boeing Company as a full community partner in both civilian and military organizations.
Familiarity with the Boeing Business Units and BDS concepts of operations are a plus.
Typical Education & Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience, 18 years' related work experience, etc.).

Salary Range: $136,000 to $184,000
