What does a successful Senior Mainframe Storage Engineer do at Fiserv?
You will be part of a dedicated storage team that works closely with other engineering teams to provide technical support for all storage management-related activities. You will provide technical and operational support in a highly technical global environment consisting of IBM and Dell-EMC disk and Virtual Tape devices. You will plan, design, manage, configure, implement, performance tuning, backup and recovery, data replication, and disaster recovery methodologies of a fast-growing, complex storage environment. You may also act as a liaison to other departments; represent the storage team on all technical matters related to storage management.
What you will do:
- Manage, maintain, and implement data storage solutions, utilizing DELL PMAX, DELL DLM, IBM DS8K and IBM VTS
- Prepare, allocate, manage, and decommission disk and storage systems by leveraging OS utilities, processes, and functions
- Continuously search and implement automated monitoring processes to proactively prevent customer-impacting incidents
- Coordinate with hardware teams to upgrade storage devices and micro-code upgrades
- Work on project teams, deliver on key project milestones, and communicate effectively with a wide variety of people
- Install, configure, and ongoing operation of key IBM and DELL software products: TDMF, Control Center and Mainframe Enablers
- Participate in disaster recovery infrastructure: plan, build, and test
- Provide 24x7 on-call rotational support as required
What you will need to have:
- 10+ years of experience in a technical support, operational, or development role supporting IBM Mainframe solutions in large storage environments: DELL-EMC, HDS, or IBM
- 5+ years of experience with Metro-Mirror, Global-Mirror, HyperSwap, and other current disk/VTS technologies: IBM DS8K, TS77K, and Dell-EMC DLM, Dell-EMC VMAX, and Dell-EMC Data Domains
- 5+ years of experience with TSO ISPF, JCL, DFSMS, HSM, DSS, DFP, IBM utilities, CA1, REXX, SAS
- 5+ years of experience with Disaster Recovery development, testing, and implementation
- 5+ years of experience with z/OS and MVS skills in all IBM utilities and mainframe disciplines
- 5+ years of experience with best practices for disk configurations, SMS management, catalog management, and tape technologies
- 5+ years of experience with access methods and VSAM Record Level Sharing
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, work, and/or military experience
