The Trane Commercial Component Quality Engineer will analyze both internal and external quality data to establish priorities for continuous improvement projects. This role involves facilitating reviews, driving corrective action requests, and ensuring stakeholder accountability, including manufacturing, engineering, and suppliers, for key component reliability such as drives, motors, compressors, and wiring connectors. The Component Quality Engineer will work across all product platforms and collaborate with field quality, product engineering, manufacturing quality, and supplier quality teams to facilitate complex problem-solving and implement irreversible corrective actions. A successful candidate will have demonstrated leadership capability in a matrixed organization, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and proficiency in quality tools and methodologies such as Six Sigma, FMEA, SPC, and root cause analysis. The role requires excellent communication skills, the ability to work effectively in a team environment, and experience in quality engineering within a manufacturing setting.

Where is the work:
Due to the nature of this role, this position has been designated as a Hybrid work schedule, with work performed onsite 3 days each week at any of our manufacturing facilities in the United States and is considered safety-sensitive.
What you will do:
- Quality Data Analysis: Analyze internal and external quality data to identify trends, prioritize continuous improvement projects, and establish quality benchmarks.
- Corrective Actions: Facilitate reviews and drive corrective action requests to ensure accountability among stakeholders, including manufacturing, engineering, and suppliers. Implement and monitor corrective and preventive actions to address and prevent quality issues.
- Component Reliability: Ensure the reliability of key components such as drives, motors, compressors, and wiring connectors through rigorous testing and analysis. Identify and mitigate reliability risks throughout the product lifecycle.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work across all product platforms and partner with field quality, product engineering, manufacturing quality, and supplier quality teams to facilitate complex problem-solving and implement irreversible corrective actions.
- Continuous Improvement: Lead or participate in cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives. Use root cause analysis to identify and resolve product failures and defects.
- Supplier Quality Management: Collaborate with suppliers to establish quality requirements and ensure compliance. Conduct supplier audits and assessments to address and resolve quality issues.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date quality documentation, including inspection reports, non-conformance reports, and corrective action records. Prepare and present quality reports to management and other stakeholders.
- Compliance and Standards: Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and company policies. Stay current with relevant quality standards and best practices.
- Training and Support: Provide training and support to production teams on quality control processes and procedures. Assist in the development and implementation of quality training programs.
What you will bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field required, Master's degree is preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in various functions of manufacturing, engineering, and/or quality
- Ability to work cross-functionally and cross-culturally within a matrixed organization
- Exceptional analytical and detailed problem-solving skills
- Experience with lean principles and techniques to include visual management, Kaizen, value stream mapping, root cause analysis, and culture of quality
- Experience with Warranty Management Systems required, experience in Tavant preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to travel up to 20% both domestically and internationally
- Experience in manufacturing environments preferred
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or equivalent body of knowledge preferred
Compensation:
Annual Base Pay Range: $95,000 – 125,000
