Job Summary
Establishes procedures for loading passenger and cargo aboard aircraft, processing passengers, and preparing records and reports. Plans and organizes air transportation activities. Plans, schedules and processes eligible air cargo, passengers and mail. Supervises use of materials handling equipment and cargo loading and unloading operations
Roles and Responsibilities
Supports the DJBOSS Passenger Terminal, Cargo Handling & ATOC Contract
- Determines, equipment, and personnel required to accomplish air transportation functions
- Oversee daily operations of the Cargo Services section under the direction of the Air Terminal Services Supervisor and Air Terminal Management, while providing leadership and guidance to assigned personnel
- Enforces policies, directs personnel, and establishes procedures to process, load, document, and report passengers and cargo transported by air
- Inspects, completes, and maintains air movement’s records, documents, and Shipper’s Declaration of Dangerous Goods (SDDG)
- Verifies eligibility of cargo offered for airlift. Ensures all cargo documentation, packaging, labeling, and marking requirements, and border clearance requirements have been met
- Determines and implements necessary safety and security precautions for handling and storing dangerous materials, special cargo, mail, and baggage
- Uses computer systems to provide in-transit visibility over cargo movement operations (GATES)
- Perform load team chief duties IAW DAFI24-605V2
- Perform joint inspections IAW appropriate Department of Defense DTR, AFI, AFMAN or DAFI references
- Provide support to other departments within Air Operations as mission dictates or as directed by management
- Individual will be in constant direct contact with military personnel daily and must understand DoD movement’s terminology
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum 6 years’ air cargo handling experience in aerial port operations
- Experience in functions such as loading and unloading military and commercial aircraft; operating automated or manual materials handling equipment including but not limited to 10K forklifts, 25k-Loaders, lower lobe aircraft loaders, etc.
- Must possess (or able to obtain within 60 days) load team chief qualification (IAW AFI AFI24-605V5)
- Must possess (or be able to obtain within 60 days) hazmat inspector certification (IAW AFMAN 24-604); certification must be maintained in this position (current certification preferred)
- Must possess (or be able to obtain within 60 days) joint inspector certification (IAW AFI24-605V5); certification must be maintained in this position (current certification preferred)
Preferred Qualifications
- Must be fluent in English
- Must possess passport book (not passport card) with at least 12 months of remaining validity AND with at least 4 blank visa/stamp pages remaining
- Must possess driver’s license with at least 6 months of remaining validity; validity must be maintained in this position
