Job Summary
Responsible for specifying, managing, deploying and continuously improving Systems related to Comcast's Regional Area Networks in a 24/7 environment. Focuses on architecting, building, deploying and stabilizing code, services, systems and tools. Drives standardization and service focused instrumentation. Provides subject matter expertise. Resolves system issues escalated by XOC desk, engaging and managing broader teams as necessary and partners with/leads vendors to achieve continuous improvement. Contributes to command and control related activities focused on restoration of complex outages, communication across Comcast and rapid restoration. Works and manages the relationship with external vendors, third parties and associated agencies when necessary to address issues across the infrastructure. Available to assist as needed after hours and weekends in the event of catastrophic outage. Integrates knowledge of business and functional priorities. Acts as a key contributor in a complex and crucial environment. Has in-depth experience, knowledge and skills in multiple systems related to Comcast's Regional Area Networks. May lead teams or projects and shares expertise.
Job Description
RESPONSILILITIES INCLUDE, but are not limited to:
- Support the NOC Engineers with overflow support
- Serve as the technical escalation point for NOC Engineers
- Provide advanced level support to the NOC Engineers and their customer(s) when required
- Daily Network Monitoring and Alarm Administration
- Using our NMS(Network Monitoring System), identify network faults and initiate the restoration process
- Provide daily outage reports to Internal Groups and Management with progress updates
- Assist NOC Engineer in fielding partner carrier/vendor maintenance notifications, assessing network and customer impact, sending notifications to all stakeholders, and making prudent business decisions based on the variables
- Internal Change Management Lead create, administer, and execute Internal Change Management events stemming from Network Impairments
- Ensure Network redundancy is maintained when scheduling an event, send notifications to all stakeholders, and make prudent business decisions based on the variables Restore Customer services within a specified repair time frame based on our SLAs.
- Investigate Network outages to determine root cause, and provide recommendations for changes in processes & procedures, or network configuration to prevent recurrence of similar outages in the future.
- Update trouble tickets with clear and concise notes summarizing actions taken and next steps.
- Chronic Issue Investigation and Analysis
- Post-Mortem Analysis and RFO creation & distribution
- Support the escalation and communication of status to management and other internal stakeholders.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5-7 years of experience in network engineering. CCNP equivalent.
- Responsible for responding to service requests, incidents from the ticket queue.
- Able to troubleshoot network issues spanning multiple network technologies like routing / switching, firewall, VPN, SDWAN, Cisco ACI and VxLAN
- Able to work with vendors to troubleshoot issues and find the root cause and relay the appropriate information to management. Respond timely and stay on top of the issues.
- Experience and understanding of Routing and switching (BGP, OSPF, redistribution, mpBGP, eVPN, VxLAN), QoS, firewalls (Security Rules, NAT Rules, monitoring).
- Basic understanding of wireless controllers, Cloud computing (AWS/Azure), multicast
- Packet monitoring an analysis using wireshark and tcpdump
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Arista, python or Ansible scripting – good to have.
- Able to collaborate with automation and reliability team to fine tune alerting and monitoring.
- F5 / load balancing understanding and troubleshooting.
- Experience with AAA (Authentication / Authorization / Accounting) software (ISE/ClearPass)
- Knowledge of WPA2/WPA3 Enterprise & PSK, RADIUS and 802.1X and PKI concepts
