About the Team
Workday's Integration Platform team is seeking a talented engineer to join our group of experts in concurrent and distributed systems. We are responsible for Workday's Elastic Grid. As providers of core technologies to Workday, we hold a vital role within the company, directly impacting its success. With more than 10,000 customers, our services are responsible for handling hundreds of millions of requests every month. We are passionate about technology and are always looking to apply the appropriate technology as opposed to writing it ourselves.
Our platform handles:
Integration scheduling, pool management, and scaling. Integration lifecycle management and observability. Asynchronous processing, end-to-end lifecycle management, and event streaming. Secure and reliable storage for integration files and documents.

About the Role
We use mainly Scala, and we are looking for candidates with some background in multi-threading and concurrency. As a Software Engineer on our team, you’ll play a pivotal part in shaping our distributed environment. Our primary technology is Scala, and we’re seeking candidates with a solid understanding of multi-threading and concurrency.
Desired Skills:
You have a passion for distributed systems and relish delivering them at cloud scale
You love to solve problems with code and prove it through automated tests
You have designed, built, tested, owned and monitored a service in production.
You are excited by shipping new features and know that delivering to production takes more than just coding
You strive to understand the big picture and given the choice, you would prefer to collaborate with product owners, architects, quality assurance and infrastructure than to go it alone
You are continuously growing your skillset
About You
Basic qualifications:
4-6+ years of software engineering experience
2+ years of distributed systems engineering experience using Java or Scala
Proven track record of test driven development and automated system testing
You have designed, built, tested, owned, monitored and given support to a service in production
Other qualifications:
Experience in one or more of the following is advantageous: Akka, Kafka or Zookeeper
You have a passion for distributed systems and relish delivering them at cloud scale
You will become part of a world-class team so you must be a standout colleague with great communication skills
