Enterprise Safety Organization within Chief Aerospace Safety Office (CASO) is seeking for a dynamic Systems Engineering Manager (First Line Leader) to lead and manage the Fleet Risk Management (FRM) team in Long Beach, CA with a focus on Product Safety.
Position Overview:
In this position, the K Level Manager will spearhead the development of in-service safety Design Practices, process guidance, tools, training and feedback mechanisms aimed at effectively managing product safety risks across Boeing’s diverse fleet, including BCA,BDS and BGS. This leadership role will oversee our Fleet Risk Management team, ensuring alignment with the mission and vision of CASO and Safety & Airworthiness Engineering Function.
In this role, you will lead a geographically diverse team of Aerospace Systems Safety and Project engineers. Your team will collaborate closely with the Safety Engineering Technical Fellowship, the Fleet Risk Management Technical Board, Safety Analytics Team, Mission Assurance Safety Engineering Teams and Product Safety & Investigation Teams. Together, you will enhance safety capabilities and contribute to the development of a robust Safety Management System (SMS). The ideal candidate will work across engineering functions to create and implement comprehensive safety strategies that reflect Boeing’s commitment to Technical Excellence.
Given the geographically diverse nature of the FRM team (and Enterprise Safety teams), the successful candidate must excel in a collaborative environment that embraces Agile & Scrum methodologies, as well as virtual teamwork. Position Responsibilities:
Lead and manage a team of engineers focused on building capabilities (Process, tools and training) that enable managing effectively Product Safety risk on Boeing fleet post delivery i.e; in the in-service phase for commercial aircraft and the Operation & Sustainment Phase for Military aircraft, weapons, satellites and defense systems
Develop and implement project and process plans, establish policies and procedures and set operational goals to the team to drive success.
Secure necessary resources for FRM projects and guide the team in continuous improvement initiatives.
Build and maintain strong relationships and partnerships with Integrated Product Teams (IPT) across the organization as well as with Business Unit Stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports.
Effectively represent the team to stakeholders through advocacy, transparency and collaboration.
Oversee and approve technical strategies around building capabilities to ensure alignment with organizational objectives

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
5+ years of experience in an engineering discipline.
Experience in technical leadership and/or management
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experience in leading cross functional teams, working across organizational boundaries, and ensuring an inclusive environment
Experience with Continued Operation Safety Process (COSP), Hazard identification, Safety and Risk management approach per MIL-STD-882, NASA-STD 8719 and Boeing Problem Solving Model (BPSM)
Experience with Model Based Engineering and Data Analytics
Experience participating in or leading Agile/Scrum teams
Strong desire to mentor, develop and grow team members.
