Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a self-motivated Senior Electrical Components Laboratory Engineer to work at the Heath, Ohio location dedicated to the failure analysis (F/A) needs of the ICBM Minuteman III Program in a dedicate F/A Lab. The candidate will be an extension of the Huntington Beach CA Failure Analysis Lab Team where additional support to the candidate is available.
This position requires a candidate with experience in performing laboratory failure analysis assessments with on electrical, electronic, & electro-mechanical (EEE) parts and components used in hi-rel applications. The candidate is required to work with the ICBM Minuteman III Program engineers and management tracking failure trends of EEE components, identify and help procure new laboratory equipment for the Program. This position is a senior level position with leadership experience in coaching and training of early career laboratory engineers.
Position Responsibilities:
Implement lean principles and technologies
Maintain laboratory supplies and order as needed
Develop and maintain laboratory processes and instructions
Maintain equipment repairs and calibration
Analyze data, make recommendations, and write comprehensive reports
Coordinate and implement new engineering principles, theories, advanced technologies and concepts
Understanding failure mechanisms of EEE parts, plastic encapsulated microcircuits/devices (PEMs & PEDs) and automotive grade AEC parts
Metallography sample preparation & cross-sectioning
Experience in analyzing EEE parts utilizing the following inspection equipment (equipment listed below) -
XRF - X-Ray Fluorescent
Electrical tests
Failure analysis
SEM/EDS Analyses
Construction analysis
Destruct Physical Analysis
X-ray/Real Time/CT Analysis
Counterfeit Detection Analysis
Delidding & Decapsulation of electronic components including plastic encapsulated devices
Use of Labview preferred
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
5+ years' experience in component engineering, failure analysis, reliability engineering, Destructive Physical Analysis (DPA) testing or electronic Materials & Processes (M&P)
5+ years' experience in X-Ray Technician
5+ years' experience in surface analysis and characterization techniques such as AFM, SEM, ellipsometry, and optical microscopy
5+ years' experience in metallographic specimen preparation
5+ years' experience in electronic components/products design and/or analysis
5+ years' experience in test software design such as National Instruments LabView

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
(Level 5)
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary Pay Range for level 4: $116,450 - $157,550
Summary Pay Range for level 5: $140,250 - $189,750
