Vascular General Ultrasound Supervisor performs diagnostic procedures with the use of ultrasound, with protocols outlined by the radiologist. Supervisor is responsible for training of new employees and overall supervision of the ultrasound department.
Proficiency in performing invasive procedures and oversight of DHEC/ACR requirements are also priority.
Operates diagnostic equipment, processes images, and prepares room with necessary equipment and supplies for the procedure.
The vascular general ultrasound technologist is responsible for selecting proper technical factors, producing diagnostic quality images, and competent in the operation of equipment.
Responsible for maintaining their and staff credentials, as well as obtaining the required CEU’s for certification; in addition, but not limited to the following duties before and during an accredited lab: assist other vascular general ultrasound technologists with vascular and general studies, train staff that need assistance with vascular and general studies, assist and modify radiologist reading format for compliance. Assistance is also needed by the physicians during invasive procedures.
Other duties include, but are not limited to, clerical, scheduling, transportation, ordering supplies, inventory, cleaning and anything deemed necessary by the medical imaging management team.
Job may include direct supervision of students at the discretion of the medical imaging operations manager and director.
Employee must have the same licensure or have completed the same training to satisfy the requirements of the discipline of the student.
Direct supervision means the primary caregiver is readily available to the student throughout the shift.
Position Requirements:
A. Licensure/Certification/Registration:
· ARRT or ARDMS and RVT credentials is Required.
· BLS-Healthcare provider (American Heart Association) is Required
B. Education:
-Graduate of an AMA approved, or ACCSC accredited school, of Diagnostic Medical Sonography is Required.
C. Experience:
-Five (5) years of Ultrasound/Vascular Technologist experience is Preferred.
Performs in accordance with delineated job responsibilities and satisfactorily completes a yearly evaluation based on these responsibilities. Must possess the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively meet the needs of the patient/internal and external customer.
Degree of Supervision Required:
Supervisioninvolves general guidance and direction by Supervisors and/or Department Manager. The employee will be expected to perform most job duties independently and in accordance with established departmental and hospital policies and procedures.

The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients served in his/her assigned service area. The skills and knowledge needed to provide such care may be gained through education, training, or experience
