Overview
The Utility Person supports the overall cleanliness, safety, and functionality of school or campus facilities. This role performs a variety of maintenance, custodial, and groundskeeping tasks to ensure a clean and well-maintained environment that supports student learning and staff productivity.
Pay: $15.82/hour

401(k) – You become eligible to make personal contributions beginning the first of the month following 30 days of employment. You become eligible for the ABM match beginning the first of the month following six months of employment. ABM matches your pre-tax and/or Roth contributions, dollar for dollar, for the first 3%. For the next 2%, ABM contributes $0.50 for each dollar you contribute. Your contributions and match are immediately vested.
Key Responsibilities: - Assist with general maintenance duties including light repairs, painting, furniture moving, and equipment setup.
- Perform routine custodial tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and waste removal.
- Support groundskeeping efforts including lawn care, snow removal, and general exterior upkeep.
- Set up and break down rooms for meetings, events, and special activities.
- Monitor and report building repair needs, safety hazards, or maintenance concerns to the supervisor.
- Replenish supplies and maintain inventory of cleaning and maintenance materials.
- Operate maintenance equipment and tools safely and efficiently.
- Assist other maintenance and custodial staff as needed.
Qualifications: - High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience in maintenance, custodial, or facilities work preferred.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning and maintenance techniques.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Physically able to lift, bend, stand, and perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience working in a school or educational facility.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are a plus.
- Familiarity with safety and sanitation regulations.
