Position Summary
The Senior Manager of Technical Accounting will play a critical role in understanding and managing complex technical accounting issues, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and other relevant accounting standards. This individual will be a key resource for addressing financial reporting issues, supporting the accounting and finance teams with technical guidance, including revenue recognition, and supporting the implementation of new accounting standards. The Senior Manager will work closely with the Senior Director of Technical Accounting to ensure robust financial reporting and maintain the integrity of the company’s accounting processes. This role will provide a strategic opportunity to contribute to the Company’s financial operations and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Provide expert-level technical accounting guidance on complex issues including revenue recognition, leases, financial instruments, business combinations, and equity transactions.
- Stay up to date on US GAAP and other regulatory changes, ensuring the company’s compliance with new accounting standards, rules, and regulations.
- Prepare technical accounting memos, financial statement disclosures, and any other reporting as necessary to ensure compliance and transparency.
- Partner with other teams (e.g., Controllership, FP&A, Legal, Commercial, IT, Operations) to assess and resolve complex accounting issues and implement technical accounting solutions.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies related to technical accounting activities. Develop and implement best practices and policies in accounting and reporting processes.
- Engage with external auditors, ensuring smooth audits, addressing audit findings, and supporting year-end reporting processes.
- Assist in the professional development and training of finance and accounting staff on technical accounting matters.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for lender covenants and private equity sponsors, ensuring all reporting deadlines are met.
- Assist in the development and enhancement of reporting processes, systems, and controls to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with regulations and requirements.
- Assist in special accounting projects as assigned.
Requirements:
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
- CPA or equivalent professional certification is strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in technical accounting, audit, or related roles, preferably within a private equity-backed or publicly traded company.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, financial reporting standards, and accounting regulations.
- Strong understanding of technical accounting, particularly around service-based contracts and revenue recognition under ASC 606.
- Experience with year-end financial audits and the preparation of audited financial statements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-financial stakeholders and the ability to collaborate across multiple teams and interact with external stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office programs (Excel, Word).
- Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative while being a team player.
- High level of integrity and ability to handle sensitive financial data with confidentiality.
