What does a successful Software Development Engineering Apprentice do at Fiserv?

As a part of the Software Development team within the Financial Institutions Group at Fiserv, you will have the opportunity to code, program, test, and analyze application software. Supporting existing business systems applications and assisting in the creation of new applications that benefit our vast client base will be integral to your role. You will consult with business analysts to identify business needs and appropriate technical solutions while designing and documenting moderately sophisticated technical requirements for business applications. Additionally, you will assist the team in designing and developing computer systems or programs, including prototypes, based on user-defined conditions. You will have the opportunity to work on teams utilizing Cobol, .NET, and C to deliver best-in-class solutions for our clients.
What you will do:
- Collaborate with business analysts to identify business needs and technical solutions.
- Design, document, code, program, test, and analyze application software.
- Support existing applications and assist in the creation of new ones.
- Develop prototypes based on user-defined conditions.
- Work within teams utilizing Java, Mainframe Modernization, .NET, and C.
What you will need to have:
- High school diploma or GED and/or equivalent military experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to deliver in line with defined deadlines.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and evidence of progressive growth in a previous position.
What would be great to have:
- Coursework or internships relevant to software development.
- Familiarity with financial systems and Fintech applications.
- Understanding of database management and data structures.
- Experience utilizing Test Driven Development (TDD) and test automation tools like Selenium.
- Knowledge of .NET, JCL, C, or COBOL programming languages.
