Job Summary and Qualifications
status of patients and designing nutrition programs to maintain or improve their health. As the Registered Dietician (R.D.) you will serve as a consultant within the Food and Nutrition Department and make recommendations on menu options, snacks, and other aspects of nutritional provision.
- You will provide evidence-based nutrition counseling to patients on modified diets
- You will conduct nutritional screenings and assessments of patients
- You will collaborate with physicians to coordinate and implement nutritional recommendations
- You will identify and communicate potential nutritional implications of medications and document this information in patients records
- You will assist the Food Service Department Dietary Aides with patient food selection and which foods are allowed and disallowed based on the prescribed diet
What qualifications you will need:
- 1 year of clinical nutrition experience in an acute care hospital setting – preferred
- Bachelor of Science in Nutrition with successful completion of American Dietetic Association (ADA) approved internship or coordinated undergraduate program
- Registered Dietitian (R.D.) credential or eligible with the Commission on Dietetic Registration
- Licensed Dietitian (L.D.) with the Texas State Board of Examiners of Dieticians
