The Role:
Here at General Motors, we are looking for a hard-working person who enjoys taking on challenges and following through with robust solutions to join our Controls and Software team! Scrum Managers are the voice of the customer for the scrum team, responsible for managing the backlog of the scrum, connecting with customers to align on project goals, and guiding the scrum team through technical challenges with each project. This role requires a combination of technical knowledge and leadership and the selected candidates will need to bring excellent skills and capability in these areas in order to grow their scrum teams and take on challenging new projects. These scrum teams are responsible for the analysis, design, coding, and testing of engine & transmission control features that cover the breadth of our technical portfolio. As the Scrum Manager selected candidates will be challenged to lead the growth in capability of controls and diagnostic methods to keep General Motors at the forefront of technology in the Engine & Transmission space.
As a Scrum Manager, your main responsibilities and deliverables are:

Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for scrum team’s product content

Collaborate with the Scrum Leader to create a team culture that encourages a high degree of constructive collaboration, healthy relationships, and a shared accountability for delivering products with quality and per agreed upon timing commitments.

Create, refine, maintain and prioritize the team backlog
-
Accept or reject the scrum team’s work results at each Sprint Review meeting

Collaborate with the ART Program Management Team to refine the Program Vision, Roadmap and Program Backlog for the ART

Collaborate with System Architect to determine enablers and coordinate rollout of enablers

Coordinate dependencies with other Scrum Managers when deliverables are dependent on other teams for completion

Communicate cross functionally both internally and externally to gain alignment with stakeholder, customers, and development partners.

Be the customer voice to the Agile Team. Provide the team with clear information on whom the current and potential customers are, as well as the how, why, when, and with whom they use the product.

Ensure the technical integrity of the product is maintained and enables the solution to address program priorities by addressing anomalies and other quality concerns in a timely manner

Define clear acceptance criteria and determine demo/sprint schedule to prove out

Ensure engineering records are complete and stored appropriately

Work closely with Scrum Leader to ascertain team capacity

Translate product and feature strategy into User Stories, assisting Scrum Team with Story definition, estimation and sequencing for Program Increment Planning events

Work day-to-day with the Scrum Teams clarifying requirements, constantly communicating and gaining alignment around Feature or Product Strategy

Provide clearly defined acceptance criteria to enable Behavior Driven (BDD) and Test-Driven Development (TDD)

Provide guidance for System Demonstration Strategy during Story creation (unit, integration and system level test strategy)

Verify Stories are testable and can be used to generate testing objectives

Ensure verification and testing of features occurs prior to End User Acceptance

Ensure the technical integrity of the product is maintained and enable the solution to address program priorities (Features and Enablers), thoroughly addressing anomalies and other quality concerns in a timely manner

Accept each story and participate in Team Demonstrations and Retrospectives to ensure quality, providing feedback to team and improving team processes

Ensure that Stories meet their pre-determined acceptance criteria, have appropriate, persistent Acceptance tests, and otherwise comply with Definition of Done (DoD)

Participate in the following Team and Program Events: Program Increment Planning, Iteration Retrospectives, ART Inspection and Adapt sessions, ART Synchronizations

Provide guidance and coaching to Scrum Team members

Perform other related duties as assigned
